Pakistan ´war on terror´ has cost $118 bn: state bank

it clearly show shows how much Pakistan has done
before pointing the finger at Pakistan ppl should study what Pakistan has done

LOL all nato eu USA cant do a ***** in middle east Afghanistan

Where are Those , Whom said Pakistan is not doing enough or not doing any thing. That Money means Lot for us , That's our economical front of WOT.
Add 100000 People which we lost and countless Injured People . Pakistan is Only country on Plant earth who suffered more then any other on WOT.
By the Help of ALLAH and Will of Pakistanis we are winning this war .

.
The cost has been high, an entire decade and then some, has been lost in this war. Pakistan GDP would have been around $600 billion now, if both the refugee issue and the war on terror never occurred.

The only thing Pakistan can do now is continue recovering and hope for the best.

Maybe not that high, but I agree with your general point.

One would think that after huge loss of men, material and resources,Pakistani establishment would be honest in curbing terrorism, but I guess not

Just shut up and leave.

$118 billion from the WoT (since 2003), and $200 billion from the refugee issue (over 30 years), this would effectively more than double Pakistan's current GDP of $285 billion to $603 billion

- A Japaneese industrialist after the wwll.
I think the war on terror generaly(not totally) is over we have destroyed their c&c infrastracture.
Now we need to think about our future.
Yes the cpec is a game changer, but once the cinese finish cpec they want their money back not only from the government, but from every pakistani by selling their products. We need to establish a strong industrialiesd economy not only agricultural.
May Allah bless the victim of wot

Thank you Pakistani tyrant General Pervez Musharraf and the men and women in uniform who served him like brain dead morons, for this great achievement.

The repayment should be made from the military's pension contributions.
We were going to war with the Taliban either way, with or without US support. They came to our lands and forced their 'cultural' interpretation of Shariah Law upon half the country. They assassinated anyone in the open streets who disagreed with them. People lived under fear.

They didn't come to our lands, they were brought to our lands.

Its just a pause, Afghans are now keeping the TTP just like once we used (and to some degree still keep) Taliban. At best, they are back in their hives for now and will wait for an appropriate time to re-emerge.

there could be no GDP. it was either that or get bombed to the stone age.

For all those blaming Gen Musharaff, can you please come up with an alternate policy or strategy that would have avoided or reduced the 118bln $ losses?

Yes, the same policy that a democratic Government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had adopted when Arab World tried to force Pakistan to attack Yemen on their behalf.

Pakistan refused and promised to support if it faced an hostile Saudi Arabia invasion.

Now, we don't see a Qiyamat like situation in Pakistan despite what the doomsayers had predicted for Pakistan over a year ago.

One doesnt simply blame Army unless he is N-league supporter.
Is this cost higher than the cost of creation of Bangladesh due to arrogance of politicans (Z.A Bhutto and S.Mujeeb)???

Is hamam main sb nangey hain.

Read my signature and maybe your malfunctioning brain can figure out who was in power when Bangladesh was created.

This is what I have always said. The American aid does not cover the losses in the war on terror. Yet America and its neo cons with their agenda make claims that Pakistan has been provided billions in dollars of aid. The reality the aid is compensation for fighting groups that have severe fundamentalism problems and saving America from attack from this region. The commentators rarely talk about the severe losses Pakistan has suffered in the war on terror to portray that Pakistan is minting cash and making money in this war and has played the US. The reality of losses we suffered says otherwise.

America is a tyrant, bully and an evil state that pushes others to their death to ensure their own protection. Look at what is happening in front line states like Somalia, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Yemen and Syria. Our muslim blood is not precious to anyone and we are dying like dogs. The problem is not only America but our idiot mullahs and their ilk who cannot stomach a liberal progressive society.

.
Somehow it was better to have Mullah's beat up anyone they did not like or marry 6 year old girls; but even a mismanaged war that led a lot of people being against extremism was not.
Oh well, to each their own.

Who has brought such mullah to our lands?
They existed since the 50's. These very elements that opposed Pakistan all migrated from India after they realised that they would not have the power they had in the new Indian nation, so they decided to continue their debauchery here in Pakistan. From the Anti-Qadiyani riots , to demands of Shariat and lynching police, to their anti-bhutto marches and acts, to their bravery in the Zai-ul-Haq times and so on. This termite infestation of Pakistan has had mentors and supporters within the military and political setup. Musharraf in all his self absorbed idiocy had one chance to end this element and he decided his overall popularity and self indulgence was the greater good.
Or maybe, this element has been inherent to Pakistani society and is what the society demands. A brazenly deplorable mix of religious bigotry and 7th century ideals tapered with massive corruption and sodomy internally.

.
The USA after 9/11 had gone war crazy, One way or another it wanted to capture and kill terrorists before even realizing the secondary costs brought on to others and itself. IF Pakistan hadn't supported US they would have still found a way to attack Taliban and even terror camps in Pakistan itself.
Afghanistan, Middle East, Pakistan all suffered due to this war crazy policies of Bush and Blair, which gave the rise to what is now ISIS
