Featured Pakistan Wants You To Know: Most Pink Himalayan Salt Doesn't Come From India

.
Pink salt looks cool and all, but calling it a national treasure is a joke. The thing got no non-insignificant value other than looks and westerners will run after it. How long the fad will last, is something investors should consider. Controlling the supply and thus manipulating the price like diamonds is not something south asians are known for.

Things like pink salt get value from cultural importance. But it got no such importance either.

Did you even read the article? It's not about manipulating prices but instead ensuring that Pakistani salt buisnesses can export it themselves with the right standards/market access/brand equity, increasing value-added processes inside the country (rather than outsourcing the crude product to other countries who then export high-value/properly packaged products and pocket the markup) and ensuring that customers are aware of it's origins - that has social value for Pakistan. Khewra salt mine already attracts plenty of tourists on top of it's production. Why not build the brand? An entire chain of upmarket pink salt products - from baths salts to lamps & tiles - mined and produced in Pakistan.

While I agree it's fad (as in the scientific evidence for the health claims are highly dubious), have you seen how much the alternative medicine/health buisness is worth? 99% bs, but if people want it, they'll pay it for it. Makes 0 sense selling it on the cheap when you can export it for $300 per ton to Europe vs $40 per ton to India; that difference is appreciable. The main focus however should be on value-addition.

Since trade has been banned. Pink salt exports to india have fallen.

I saw a bag of the salt that was labeled "made in India"
These street sh!tters are even stealing our salt now.

And I have been saying that forever.

You know they make everything out the pink salt now, a Korean company makes beauty products with it and are making a killing.

but here we are with our thumbs up our a$$es selling the raw salt for peanuts.

you should go to international court of justice to stop india from selling your salt as indian one .

If you want to get a geo tag for your pink salt, you will have to drop the name Himalayan as Khwera is not part of the Himalaya.

We have a rock salt mine in the foothills of Himalaya in Mandi.
Himalayun is not your property and we also have Himalyun range and we can use it as we want and we don't need your permission to do so.
Pink salt is now in sales in KSA. I buy the Pakistani brand. AlHumdAllah

Pakistan Wants You To Know: Most Pink Himalayan Salt Doesn't Come From India

That article proves the fact that india is not a country worth even for trade. For Pakistan it is imperative that we stop all trade, all travel, all media and all friendship efforts with these roaches. There must be a concerted effort to comprehensively exterminate any and all indian bollywood, cable and music in our country. This disease of indian music, movies cable-tv, which has infected our people for over half a century, is the crux of the problem. Today we have a former Prime Minister committing treason against the same country and people who made him a leader, who gave him riches (most of which he stole) and land. His wickedness is indicative of being born in a society which is infected with the disease that is indian media, movies, music and tv-channels.

Get out of your own way, Pakistanis. Wake the fuk-up, recognize who you ARE!!!!! You have any idea the greatness you are destined for? You have any idea what would happen when you truly become Muslim, Ummati of Nabi Muhammad Alaihi Salaat-u-Wassalam? The world will respect you, your friends will honor you and your enemies will tremble in their boots.

Have you any idea how Allah Subhanahu Wata'aalah will reward you, when you become united as true Muslims? You would soar to the stratosphere and beyond in success, prosperity and peace.

Become a True Muslim, care for your poor, help one another, like our beloved Prophet Muhammad Alaihi Salaat-u-Wassalam had done. Subdue and enslave your Nafs, tame and become fully in control of your ego and read .... READ the Holy Qur'an .... READ the Holy Qur'an ... READ the Holy Qur'an, every day!!!!!

Pak has a monopoly on Pink Salt why not leverage it?

Just totally ban all pink salt exports. The multinationals will themselves come to Pakistan and arrange for joint ventures of finished products.

This is the only solution. If we really have a monopoly on production then just ban all exports and let competent and capable companies like Shan and National market it. You can't blame Indians or Koreans here. Its our own fault like with all mining activities be it copper, marble or salt.

There were allegations of Chinese companies bribing customs and other relevant people in Balochistan to smuggle out much more raw copper than they were allowed from Saindak. Apparently they have licked clean the mines.

Same thing with marble; small time miners blow up mountain faces to extract marble while destroying something like 80% of it and then it is smuggled out at dirt cheap rates instead of branding it like Italy does. Dawn had detailed reports on both these issues a while back. Truly heartbreaking to read.

But I guess all this is too much to ask in this dear land of ours. Short sighted and entitled people we are from top to bottom.
