Of the 29 instances Indian air space has been violated in the past three years, Pakistani aircraft have been responsible
23 times.

Replying to a query in parliament on Monday, defence minister AK Antony said between 2007 and 2010, Indian air space was violated 29 times — 23 times by Pakistan, once by Bangladesh, thrice by China and twice by the US.

Former air chief marshal FH Major, who headed Indian Air Force (IAF) during 2007-2009, told DNA, “Violations take place due to bad weather and technical problems.”

Each country has a certain area near the international boundary which is not to be violated or crossed till a certain distance, and which differs for every country. Between India and Pakistan, adjoining the Line of Control, there is a 10 km buffer area which too is not to be crossed. If violated, it’s considered violation of the border.

Former Air Chief SK Krishnaswamy said, “There are certain routes which are earmarked and violation is crossing the boundary. Sometimes genuinely helicopters have got lost due to bad weather and strayed inside, especially in the hills. But sometimes it’s intentional, to check and test our reaction, radars and our air defence and sometimes it’s for snooping on us, but we have safeguard measures in place.”

Fighter aircraft on ground are scrambled immediately as a safety measure. IAF’s MiG-29, MiG-21 and Mirage-2000 aircraft are meant for air defence and are positioned near the Indo-Pak border.

The last Chinese helicopter violation was in Chumur, near Thankung post, in Leh on June 21, 2009, which is 60-70 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC), near Pangong-tso lake. Earlier, an air-space violation was done in Sikkim’s Nathu-La area, by Chinese planes.

Antony further said besides measures, the matter had also been taken up with the concerned country through diplomatic channels.

The title of the article mentions Pakistan violating air space 23 times, but they mention Chinese incident. Did they forget where the last time pakistan violated the airspace, or the author of the article pull numbers out of theirs arses.

the problem with u is u dont want to read, understand, comprehand the newz but just superimpose the image that u have. now what u think, nobody in da world cares.so better try to update ur logic.

u simply out of nowhere say LETS MAKE A NUMBER......

do u even have a pinch of hint that airspace violations are a norm as height is too high and some bad weather can displace u 100s of km in no time till u work on the system to stabilize it.

when such things happen, the opposite side dont simply shoot away the plane. its defence dude, we all know whats good intension and bad intension.

and nobody make any fuss about such things. its normal.....

there wud be many violations frm india too.....but till u dont involve in misadventure, its good !

there are international protocols that every air force need to follow.
you don't just simply shoot down plane that violated your airspace unless at war.

thats the reason pak airforce did not fire on Indian planes who went in long way in Pak punjab and kashmir after mumbai.and vice versa.

it means your airforce is no longer a potent threat to us. the real concern is the Chinese. hence the author mentioned the Chinese violation and left out Pakistani violations... hope you can understand this.

Threat is a threat no matter how big or small it is. If the real concern is the Chinese then it should have been highlighted in the title. You are not the author nor do you represent whole India. It's best to have some knowledge about the issue before yapping away, i hope you understand
