Pakistan vaccinates over 200,000 people against coronavirus in a day

• Asad Umar says number of registrations for the coronavirus vaccine have been increasing significantly.
• He adds that over 200,000 people got vaccinated against the virus a day earlier.
• The number of registrants of the coronavirus vaccine have also exceeded five million.

In a positive sign, the number of registrations for the coronavirus vaccine have been increasing significantly as over 200,000 people got vaccinated against the virus on Tuesday, said Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, the federal minister noted that the number of registrants of the coronavirus vaccines in the country has exceeded the five million mark.

He also urged people who are 40 or above to get themselves vaccinated against the coronavirus, adding that people should continue observing coronavirus safety protocols.
Pakistan is currently vaccinating people who are 40 plus and healthcare workers with Chinese vaccines.

A digital portal has been launched by the federal government for the registration through which a code is assigned to the person and then they can go to a designated vaccination centre to get the jab.
The minister had previously announced that over 150,000 people were vaccinated across Pakistan on May 3.

Yes, this is a good number. IMHO Pakistan can easily scale upto 1 million. But as they say every journey begins with a small step.

There is another thing we shouldn't lose sight of. Covid Vax process is not like polio or DPT Vax. This can prove lethal to both the vaccinators as well as the vaccinated given the nature of the disease, unlike say polio vaccination. Proper precaution will have to be maintained.

Govt aims to have vaccinated 70m people by the end of the year. The thing to remember is you probably don't need to vaccinate anyone under 18, currently the UK is not doing so, unless they have a serious health problem. Research shows youngsters aren't really affected by the Virus.

According to the last census 75 million Pakistani's were under 18. This is why the focus on development on youth is so important. 40% of the country are children. If these people can be skilled up properly within 20 years time we'll have a massive workforce all earning money. Our economy could grow 10 times in my opinion.

Govt is gearing up to increase the number of vaccinations/day after eid so probably we will be able to reach 0.5 million a day target.

To acheive low death rate(lower then what is being caused by malaria and rgular flu/pneumonia for which we arent buying vaccines) all we need to do is only immunizw people above 40

Mortaliy is neglible in under 40 unless they are immunocompromised

And now see population pyramde in pakistan
Only 27% pop is above 40 in pakistan

But remeber we will need to vaccinate this population yearly! As vaccine works for probably just 1-2 yrs

I would put the age limit at 50 more like.

If you are below 50, slim and healthy you will shake off the virus with no or mild symtons 99.9% of the time. Just make sure you self-isolate in case of symptons as transmission needs to be kept low to reduce the chances of "mutant" variants arising.
