Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry has expressed optimism that Pakistan would be soon exporting its upcoming local manufactured ventilators.

Talking to local media, the federal minister said that Pakistani has become self-sufficient in producing its PPEs and sanitizers in a relatively short span of time, and is now currently sitting at $100 million worth of export orders.

“The manufacturing of ventilators locally is a landmark achievement. The first batch of ventilators will be hand over to the NDMA on Thursday, and the upcoming three designs will be finalized next week and would be in production,” said Chaudhry.

“This would not only make us capable of manufacturing complex medical machinery for our hospitals, but we would also soon become capable of exporting these machines in our region as well,” he added.

The minister informed that 10 ventilators would be provided to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in the first batch. He was of the view that this effort would pave way for the development of the medical engineering field in the country.

Fawad also urged the overseas Pakistani community to invest in the country’s technology sector.

at what cost?
Should be a cheaper alternative.

==============================
I think Pakistan will get very few orders if any. We first have to test them in Pakistan over the period of six months atleast.

It's a complex machine and there is no room for failure once it is attached to a patient. If we pass 3-6 months at least without any failure, it will give confidence to foreign buyers..

So the key is internal success first. Also, I don't know whether we should export them with the COVID peak expected in 3rd and 4th weak of August.

We have lot of beds, and ventilators. We don't have enough doctors and nurse now.

alot of doctors migrate to western countries every year after graduating from govt universities and never return back,there should be law regarding minimum service of doctors within Pakistan before they are granted license,similarly female doctors mostly waste govt money spend on their education in govt universities and sit in home for rest of life after marriage,therefore govt should increase male medical students quota in govt medical colleges

We do have vacant ventilators, but don't know whether they are enough when we touch the peak. We haven't seen the peak till yet.

And Doctors and Nurses.. yes, that's a huge problem.

According to latest research, most the case don't need ventilator. Doctors in other countries are also saying the ventilator cause more damage in the long run, and there is a debate about among doctors that ventilator should not be used for all serious cases. Rather they are saying using ventilator for only near death cases.
