Pakistan to purchase electricity from Iran: Gilani

I saw a Najam Sethi program a few minutes ago where he says that except Karachi, most areas in Pakistan, both rural and urban, are facing 10-12 hour power outages.

Is that true?

I am not sure, but i think he is right

I think it is a good deal, till pakistan build capacity, it can import electricity. It is definitely cheaper than turkish one, wonder why they did not do this earlier.

Not even barter trade just do financing via russian banks as middle party

Not that easy..

Just get one thing clear.. When push comes to shove- No one ( neither Russia or any other country ) will help Iran but Iran itself.
Its a new kind of warfare which is equally effective . If the sanctions continue then Iran will face severe problems..

Payment kaise hoga..?

Trading with Iran is getting increasingly difficult.. Wonder how long these crippling sanctions will be there..

Are you referring to sanctions? Are you not aware of wheat trade?

Pakistan shall only import gas and build its own power plant.

Whereas ground reality is, no one believes Gilani!

Go Gilani Go

I am aware of that. Are you planning to export them wheat in return of oil...? Last heard they import Wheat from Poland.
Even if they start importing wheat from pakistan then will the wheat compensate for Gas..?
And for importing Gas a pipeline will be needed. Is any bank ready to finance this..? Any financial institution of repute in your own country wont touch any such project.
Situation is much more complicated than most of people here think...
