Pakistan to observe BLACK DAY on Tuesday in support of Kashmiris

LAHORE–Federal Cabinet on Friday announced to observe black day on Tuesday to express solidarity with Kashmiris struggling for their right to self determination as well as to flay the killing of innocent people in Indian Occupied Kashmir during the current wave of violence by the Indian forces on them.


The Federal Cabinet that met at Governor’s House Punjab, with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in the chair, also decided to convene joint session of the Parliament to discuss situation in the Held Valley and adopt line of action to provide diplomatic and moral support to Kashmiris struggling for their right to self determination. The Cabinet meeting further resolved to highlight the Kashmir issue at the international level.

The Indian army led violence started on July 8 last after killing of 22-year old Kashmiri freedom fighter Burhan Wani a day earlier, has so far claimed the lives of 42 Kashmiris including women and children besides leaving over 2000 injured.

Addressing the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif termed Burhan Wani ‘soldier of freedom’ and said that the more the Indian forces try to end Kashmiris struggle, the stronger it would become. He said Pakistani nation and he himself stood with the Kashmiris at this hour and would adopt every measure to move the world conscience for resolving the issue and to hold plebiscite in the occupied Kashmir.

Nawaz Sharif said Indian government has deployed 700,000 troops in Held Kashmir but they would not be able to suppress the Kashmiris’ struggle. The PM said Kashmiris are out to free themselves from the usurpation of the Indian government and their struggle would succeed in the long run.
