Pakistan To Manufacture KIA Vehicles With Iran's Collaboration

Majority won't buy these cars & instead will go with mehran dabba because of "Resale Value"

People never understand that the resale value is same as new car with discounts.

When people for resale value, they have to pay full price for the vehicle. When people go for deal, they get handsome incentive that makes up for poor resale value.

Want discount? Get brand new vehicle with poor resale value. Want resale value? Pay the full price. Quite frankly, i prefer brand new car with huge incentive and enjoy the ride while saving the bucks as opposed to keep worrying about maintaining the cars just to sell the car later if that is the purpose of worrying resale value.

People who want to enjoy brand new car for the long term, get the car with handsome incentive and enjoy the ride and life. :D

Long time ago quite a few people got ripped off by a Pakistani company which was introducing KIA in Pakistan

I have driven it.and it is indeed junk..Korean cars are only about good looks...the engine..transmission..suspension everything sucks..the material quality is soo rubbish it wears down in six months..

they copy the front from one European marquee and the back from another..and somewhat try to create a hybrid out of illegitimate intercourse.

I am guessing you must have ridden the used cars from 2001-2009. Modern Kia and Hyundai have changed. In fact, they are rated top quality with the strong engines and very fuel efficient. Comparison to boring Toyota and Suzuki, Hyundai/Kia are lively and memorable ride. They are solid.

Tried Sonata. Brilliant. Sharp steering, handsome horsepower, great fuel efficient, great NVH [sound-proof], and bigger cargo space along with handsome leg room. Try the new Sonata/Optima. Many who have tried the new Sonata/Optima have been pleased, and that is on the top of handsome incentive while the build quality had been rated top according to Consumer Report.

Their Turbo technology has been top notch. Check out Elantra 1.6Turbo powering up to 200 horsepower. That is real SPORTA! :D

well that was true about them and they were not at all desired by the motorists however the Koreans have worked hard and brought these vehicles up to a good standard and I reckon they will be exceptionally competitive against the mainstream german and japanese car makers by the end of the decade based on the strides they have made thus far!

Many european vehicles like Alfa Romeo or BMW can do the same or better...

A Japanese car is always a Japanese car..I have owned and driven a lot and I can assure you that Toyota made in Indonesia or Malaya or Nissan made in India is never the same as Made in Japan versions..not only the build quality is better but material quality is also leaps and bounds ahead..

Last KIA i rode..was 2016..Few days ago!
Optima to be precise.

You mean huge reliability issues with on the inexpensive maintenance?

If you want premium quality cars, that is called Genesis, Lexus, Infiniti, BMW, Alfa Romeo,...etc. Most of people in Pakistan are looking for non-premium quality cars like Toyota/Nissan/Hyundai a like - somewhat not expensive and affordable.

For the reasonable budget, Hyundai is the best deal comparatively. Right now, Elantra is the second most selling segment after Honda Civic in North America.

A Japanese car is always a Japanese car..I have owned and driven a lot and I can assure you that Toyota made in Indonesia or Malaya or Nissan made in India is never the same as Made in Japan versions..not only the build quality is better but material quality is also leaps and bounds ahead..

But Toyota is using the same old outdated technology, hence no risk of reliability since it is same-old technology that has been perfected in 90.

I don't know what to say. I have driven Sonata 2015. It was fun, stable and excellent quality ride. I know people in Pakistan will love it since they are top build quality car with reasonable reliability and minimum maintenance issue, not to mention healthy warranty package along with the handsome incentive deals. This really put a smile on you. :D

I agree, Toyota made in Japan and made in France are not the same. no matter how their work assembly and manufacturing is the same. Toyota made Japan will always be superior.

my friend I suggest you google toyota city in Japan!! There is nothing like it on earth. Toyota being made in Pakistan may be in the stone age but not true for all assemblies globally!

You might be talking about materials inside, but the engine-wise, it is same outdated engine as everywhere. I am speaking from the market of North America. There is the reason why Toyota is reliable because it is using the same outdated technology that has been perfected long time ago. Why fix it when it ain't broken? Even today, that outdated technology is still doing great in terms of sales. After all, people only care about the reliability, not modern cutting-edge technology.

Whereas for Hyundai/Kia, they are offering modern cutting-edge technology who are tomorrow's world leader in the car industry.

Ok since you are in north america what about the hydrogen car by toyota and the Prius most driven car in north america surely that other car makers are basing their hybrid off! ever heard of the Toyota BMW partnership?

Toyota being outdated is a bit misleading!

Toyota being outdated is a bit misleading!

Toyota spends nearly $10 billion every year just for R&D into cutting edge technologies that it brings to perfection before release to consumers.

Toyota best technology is actually reserved for its premium product, Lexus. You want cutting-edge technology, get Lexus which costs you premium price.

I agree Toyota is working on hydrogen technology but so is Hyundai. Their commercial products are already being used but not mainstream yet. The hybrid technology that Toyota uses for Prius is actually old. Its technology is nickel-metal-hydride. I hear Toyota is starting to upgrade with the today's technology now.

Until then, Toyota is using the same outdated technology for Corolla and Camry. Check out their engine specification.

i think it's true for other manufacturers as well. Nissan with Infiniti, Mercedes with AMG, VW with Audi and others, Honda with Acura. Premium gets the latest tech then the lower models after a few years gets them! Toyota has a working hydrogen can and released in US last year and Toyota is leagues ahead in sales of their Hybrid and now they will be leagues ahead with Hydrogen.

I sense a bias towards Toyota

Sir, the Korean cars may have been junk when they were first marketed back in the 90's. But the Koreans use the same engine and transmission technology like the Japanese do. So engine and transmission wise, these cars are the same as Toyota and Honda and Nissan. However, the three Japanese names are much bigger in ranking and brand and more people know about them.

Kia is now the only company who offers 10 years worth of warranty, or, 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) for Engine and Transmission (the most major components inside a car that are the most expensive). And they sell in decent numbers in the US now too. They do copy new designs, and add their flavors to it. Nothing wrong.

Their Genesis is a nicer copy of Mercedes Benz S550. You can pay 100K for the MBS 500 with some upgrades, or you can pay $ 50K for Genesis and get everything that you'd get in a fully loaded, $ 125K Mercedes Benz. That's a 60-70% price drop for the same or better luxury with a different brand. Not bad at all. They also have a ton of intermediate models too. Thanks,

Despite being a nicer copy..Genesis is an utter failure in Sales..i have not seen one for years...where as Mercedes is to be found at every traffic light...Koreans may use the same tech..or even advance..but their material quality is rubbish..the engine wears down very fast...my father had a old Mazda 929 model 1982 with 400K on the oddo...and only one engine rebuild..and as of 2016 it is still going strong..Korean engines are trash in two year...I have personally witness KIA engine replacements after 2-3 years of service...
