Pakistan to Import Tomato From Iran

Have a friend looking into vertical farming in Pakistan.

Funding is an issue for him.

I know a couple of fellows struggling with the funding as well.

Smart Homes and Smart Farming was meant to empower the power through easy loan methods.

it all comes down to fair distribution of resource.

As cramped as we are in terms of space and population. Vertical farming or urban farming remains a key peg in the frame.

they were even discussing how taxes would be regulated based on per acre production and yield. land reforms are a must in Pakistan.

the problem remains corruption. they try and allocate funds to smaller farmers but those who plan the criteria buy the lands themselves first to profit.

it is a vicious cycle of loot heal and loot again.

.
50 or 60 or something.

even if it is half of that.

it is still expensive.

Pakistan is suppose to be an Agriculture country.

You should go out ask , Here 2 days ago it was selling at 200 per kg and yesterday it was 180.

Many states and cities in the US proposed reductions in taxation for properties used for urban agriculture (~minimum of 5-7 years).

Farmers, on the other hand, are taxed on potential earnings of production. In order to get subsidized inputs for the product they have to show tax filings dating back ~5 years, whether they paid taxes or not.

As more and more agricultural land gets cemented over for plazas or housing, unless there is a revolution in agriculture in Pakistan these 200Rupee tomatoes will become a norm.

I know the corruption, the only option for consolidated land is to freeze transactions and perhaps carry out the 2nd 5 Year Economic Plan Pakistan formulated.

Import from Iran to a balochistan city my guess would be Quetta. Then from Quetta it goes to Lahore. So much time and money will make the import of tomatoes expensive compared to what 2 hour time to import from Amritsar? A silly decision in my opinion.

.
Too much rain this year during harvesting time.

Yes another reason. Big vegetable vendors aka mafias here in Pakistan also do this to create artificial shortage.
Thank you very much. Feel bad for the farmers.

I have heard this before somewhere else too.

I think they will probably do the land reforms one way or the other.

But i think we have hit rock bottom as far as corruption is concerned

Holy moly i shopped at the right time.

50 or 60 is the state sanctioned price.

Now add two plus two and read the article again.

.
its more than Rs. 200 but in some cities its around Rs. 250-280 per Kg.

Damn are Tomatoes becoming a luxury now ?? It reached around 180's here as well few months back. I won't be surprised if a person with an iPhone will not be able to by a kilo of Tomato in future. :(

.
Shameful. A country with so much of agriculture is dependent on basic vegetable on others.

Indeed.

“We have stopped import of tomatoes and other fresh vegetables in order to protect our farmers. We have enough tomato and other vegetables stocks, which we import from India only in case of shortages in the domestic market,” he told Dawn by telephone from Islamabad on Friday morning.

man we are always in a better shape than you lot. its not even a question

but our elitist policies are actually make sure that we become equal

There is a growing concern that Pakistan's agriculture policy has been eroded systematically.
Always a better option to grow vegies at home... in ur garden or even pots if space isnt available..

Are you growing vegetables at home? Which ones and how do you get the seeds.

Hint: educational reforms with more emphasis on agriculture

. .
Pls elaborate

Dude the world is learning smarter ways to educate their youngs and produce energy and consume it.

We are creating mindless zombies to the world's industrialists.

We have an education lagging by a good 2 decades.
