"We have $350 million in that part of the budget for FMF (Foreign Military Financing) programmes, which is part of the five-year agreement that we have made with the government of Pakistan," a State Department official told reporters.

In Afghanistan, out of a total $2.3 billion assistance $2.2 billion is to target the priority sectors of governance, rule of law, counter-narcotics, agriculture, economic growth, health, and education in Afghanistan.

It very well might be. I think as the US is drawing to a possible wrap up of its operations in the AfPak region, 2012 will be a crucial year to step up its efforts to bring in more stability to the region.

I think more than millitary aid, this should be an economic aid for the people especially in the NW region bearing the brunt of the drone attacks. Everyone seems to have forgotten about them. With economic stability there will surely be political stability in the region.

Considering the problems WoT has caused Pakistan, GoP needs to milk every last cent it can from the US if it can't get out of WoT.

Only if Davis gets free (which he will anyways). The laughable thing about the whole thing is this part " To promote a secure, stable, democratic Pakistan".

War on Terror was Musharraf's excuse to stay in power, he helped the terrorists move into Pakistan.

I want to see hundreds of pages about how Pakistan should refuse this aid, just like the hundreds of pages over Davis. Otherwise where are your priorities?

Not even a fraction of the damages Pakistan has to go through thanks to this false war on terror. The terrorism Pakistan is facing. The poor people in FATA who are getting killed and their homes being destroyed by drones. The Pakistani soldiers that are being martyred. Suicide bombings or terrorism in Pakistan didn't even exist before America got it's nose in Afghanistan. The war on terror has caused Pakistan much more than 3 billion dollars. We don't want aid just gtfo of Afghanistan and leave us the fck alone.

The title of this article should be changed to "USA will give Zardari $3.1 billion dollars cos they want to treat their favorite pet"
