This is actually a very smart move. The Jordanian F-16s are block 30 (c/d models). PAF has the spares to fly them for 5 years without US assistance. Turkish upgrades can bring them to block 52 equivalent and they will be as good as newer block 52s on an electronic level. They may not have the same powerful engine but it is certainly more than adequate (still a very powerful engine) PAF needs a stop gap and the plan was always to get more used F-16. For PAF, its far more cost effective to replace mirage f-7s with a mox of new jf-17 amd used F-16s. Even for those not in favor of new F-16s for PAF, used ones are still avery smart move.

This was the simplest of the solutions and Paf made a mountain out of a mole hill---. That is what happens when the Air Chief's head is up i n the ETHER and he does not understand the shift that has taken place in the american camp.

This is also a failure of the Pakistani ambassador in the U S as well---.

Once the Senator said " NO "---Paf's guard should have gone up---and rather creating a SCENE for the world to see and make fun off---they should have evaluated other options---like the use F16's and kept quiet about the issue.

This useless tongue lashing between pakistan and the U S served no purpose for both sides---and as pakistan was the recipient of the weapon---it should have understood the situation and handled things better.

By bringing it to the attention of the U S public and getting them against pakistan is another feather of " failure " amongst the Paf's ribbon of many " Let Downs " to the nation.

If this was in works---then why create the fuss.

Brother we don't have any other option i watch many threads where senior members advocating Russian or Chinese twin engine jets but in reality even if we have budget to buy those jets still we can't reason is that Russia can't sell because of Indian pressure and China also producing copies of Russian Jets which they can't export. So we have two option JF-17 and F-16 till the J-31 ready for export.

Pak air force already has 300.obselete mirages and chinease f7.

Buying obsolete f16 from a tiny air power like Jordan is not going to really modernise the fleet.

Unless the paf do a deep dive upgrade of airframe engine and cockpit it's a awful.decision.

By deep dive I mean 20 million per plane not three million to just get bvr added and a minor paint job.

Otherwise it will simply breakdown .

The jordanians are scrapping them for good reason. They battered and they are not rich nation like UAE or Oman.

I can see why many are shaking g heads

All MLUed are atleast block 50/52 standards with UP and STAR structural upgrades, in software terms they will be OFP 5.0 (M5 tape). Let not talk if they are plus or not (in radar terms)

15 of them are sent on MLU 6.5 Update and will receive them in 2017 so those jets wont be sold to Pakistan.
20 are third hand used by Jordan for 10 years.

That leave them with six old aircrafts, if Pakistan place order of more than 6 they will get those third hand aircrafts already used 10 years by Jordan.
