Pakistan to buy 1,700MW electricity from Iran

LAHORE - Pakistan and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding under which the latter will sell the former 1,700 MW electricity at reduced rates. Iran is also willing to extend more cooperation to overcome energy crisis in Pakistan.
This was disclosed by Senator Lashkari Raisani while talking to WAQTNEWS on his return from a visit to Iran during which he signed the MOUs.
He said Pakistan had been buying 35MW electricity from Iran to meet Makrans requirements. However, now that the demand had gone up, an agreement had been signed to get another 70 MW. Senator Raisani said another agreement had been signed to get 100MW electricity for Gawadar port. Senator Ismaeil Buledi, MD PEPCO and some others were also part of the Pakistan delegation that visited Iran. According to the PPP Senator, another MOU for 1,000 MW power had been signed with Iran.
