PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Pakistani Taliban on Monday warned foreign firms to leave the country after thousands of troops launched a long-awaited offensive in a troubled tribal district along the Afghan border.

"We warn all foreign investors, airlines and multinational corporations that they should immediately suspend their ongoing matters with Pakistan and prepare to leave Pakistan, otherwise they will be responsible for their own loss," said spokesman Shahidullah Shahid in a statement.

The Taliban's main stronghold is in the North Waziristan tribal district, where the Pakistan military began its offensive on Sunday night.

It came one week after brazen insurgent attack on Pakistan's main airport in Karachi which left dozens dead and marked the end of a troubled peace process. The Islamist group also vowed to take revenge on the government.

"We hold Nawaz Sharif's government and the Punjabi establishment responsible for the loss of tribal Muslims' life and property as a result of this operation," the statement said.

"The retaliatory actions of the Mujahedeen will make you a cautionary tale in history."

Shahid added that the Taliban would "burn your palaces in Islamabad and Lahore" referring to the capital city and Sharif's hometown, from where he derives his support base.

"Remember that you will once again crave for negotiations and peace, but then it would be too late," he added.

North Waziristan is the only tribal region where the military has not launched a large military operation against militants, despite insistence from the US. The region until recently was harbouring several militant groups of local and foreign militants, including Chechens, Uzbeks, Turkmen, Tajiks and Uighurs. According to sources, many insurgents had recently vacated the main towns of the region and fled towards the rugged mountains
on the border with Afghanistan.

This TTP scum has enjoyed enough freedom n support from Idiot leader within Pakistan ...Now #pakistan will talk to them in their own language ..... i support #ZarbEzm.....

game on boys .. finally the politicians listened to army ... go fck some TTP hairy asses

So it confirms the rumours that new chief of TTP, fazlullah is anti-punjabi. Look at the statement, they are talking about taking revenge from punjab, its governament and establishment. I remember the interview of asfandyar wali few years ago, in which he claimed that fazlullah asked him on phone, before operation, to join hands with him against punjab but he refused. It seems he was telling the truth after all.

So taliban who consider white man their enemy suddenly feeling bad for them and wishing them safety. how nice of you talibani boys, who don't to go back to your cave and cuddle up with each other as that is your favorite pastime

Gyahahaha, empty threats, you can just tell they're scared and have nothing up their sleeves except for these empty threats. I just hope if we can catch just one Talib alive it be this shitbag spokesperson of ttp.

Bt this statement they want to split us in panjabi, sindhi and pathan but this time they will not succeed. Whole nation is against ttp. انشا الله our army will teach them a good lesson. We are with our army! May Allah help our army!

Comparing LTTE wit TeeTeePee is a blunder. LTTE had different agendas, had one leader, smaller area, India was involved. Situation in Pakistan is more of a proxy war like in Iraq.

But will foreigners consider it as an empty threat? remember the attack on the srilankan cricket that stopped foreign country teams from touring to pakistan. At this moment after the warning even a failed or a botched up attack on any foreigner will stop people from making a trip. The karachi airport attack made many of your expats to cancel their trip home for vacation.

Plus many countries have issued travel advisories to their citizens from traveling to Pakistan already.
