Pakistan Taliban 'sets up a base in Syria'
By Ahmed Wali Mujeeb
BBC Urdu
The Pakistani Taliban have visited Syria to set up a base and to assess "the needs of the jihad", a Taliban official has told the BBC.

He said that the base was set up with the assistance of ex-Afghan fighters of Middle Eastern origin who have moved to Syria in recent years.

At least 12 experts in warfare and information technology had gone to Syria in the last two months, he said.

Their presence in the country is likely to have a sectarian motive.

Taliban factions feel that Sunni Muslims, who constitute a majority in Syria, are being oppressed by Syria's predominantly Shia rulers.

Thousands of people have died in the year-long armed conflict in Syria between loyalists of the ruling Baath Party and those who want to overthrow it.

The Pakistani government has not commented on the allegations.

'Joint operations'

Mohammad Amin, a senior Taliban operative and "co-ordinator of the Syrian base", told the BBC that the cell to monitor "the jihad" in Syria was set up six months ago.

He said that the cell has the approval of militant factions both within and outside of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an umbrella organisation of militant groups fighting the Pakistani forces.

The cell sends "information and feedback" on the conflict in Syria back to Pakistan, he said,

"They were facilitated by our friends in Syria who have previously been fighting in Afghanistan," Mr Amin said.

Their job is to "assess the needs of the Jihad in Syria, and to work out joint operations with our Syrian friends".

"There are dozens of Pakistani hopefuls in line to join the fighting against the Syrian army, but the advice we are getting at the moment is that there's already enough manpower in Syria."

In the past, militant fighters from Pakistan have often gone to fight in Central Asia and the Balkans.

In the 1990s, militant group Harkatul Mujahideen, was known to have sent a large number of men to fight in the Bosnian civil war of 1992-95.

Many Afghan and Pakistani fighters also fought on the side of Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict of 1988-94.

A number of Taliban groups in Pakistan have sectarian leanings, and resent the rule of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad - having a Shia background - over Sunni Muslims who constitute about three-quarters of the Syrian population.

Sources say that anti-Shia groups in Pakistan have access to considerable charity funds raised in some Middle Eastern sheikhdoms that see their domestic Shia populations as a problem.

I think this whole scenerio is being set up for the arrival of Prophet Isa and Imam mehdi. It is a well known fact that many fighters of imam mehdi will come from a pak iran region. Also, Prophet Isa will be descending on Damascus. If you carefuly look into this arab situation, we can argue that arab spring (revolutions in arab world) could be dajjal.

Good! The TTP should pack up their bags and fook the hell out from this part of the world. They've probably realized that the Middle East is a safer place in which to operate. It looks like these yahoos are kinda getting screwed out there in Pakistan! :cheesy:

The two main aims of the TTP yahoos:

> Take over Pakistan and impose Sharia law - FAIL!
> Fight the Pakistan Army - FAIL!

So now they're looking for greener pastures to propagate their aims and objectives. Idiots!

So TTP are fighters of Imam Mehdi?

I don't wanna live on this planet anymore..

Yeh to hona hi tha.

Now let's see what the US has to say about arming the rebel opposition.

I said this at the start of the conflict, that the US and Western countries will dive in and arm these folks, and you will have Taliban 2.0.

Just look at Libya. The rebels there aren't willing to lay down arms and cede power to the state.

Let’s not forget we joined hands in the first place to make our lands safer. We’ve lost thousands of brave soldiers and innocent civilians to acts of terrorism. It is our common quest for peace that continues to binds us together. It is also our shared wish and desire to see peace prevail throughout the region. We’ve made many sacrifices due to our common stance against terrorism, and continue to do so, for the sake of stabilizing the region. Our common enemies also see our common objectives as a threat to their deadly mission. And that’s why they regularly target our forces on both sides of the border. At the end of the day, we are fighting the same terrorists and suffering at the hands of the same terrorists. Therefore, it only makes sense for us to work together against a common threat.

One cannot help but marvel at the displayed naivety of Uncle Sam.

You were getting ripped off all along & you played along !

Why this aggression towards the fag end of ' joining hands" ?

Common enemy ? You guys still cannot identify who the enemy is.

its always easier to stop a wheel from the hub not the rim. You guys have forever applied pressure at the rim & chosen to ignore the hub.

Ok, so why are you guys poking your noses where not required? Why do you propose helping the Syrian opposition ranks which is gradually being filled by the Al Qaeda and other assorted terror groups? The latest is the Taliban which is set to hitch a ride on the bandwagon!

So, you wanna screw the Al Qaeda in Afghanistan (The purported reason you started the Afghan war) and now you're helping them in Syria? Epic fail!

Next, according to any number of your CIA intel reports, which have claimed all along that Pakistan was running with the hare and hunting with the hounds by helping the Taliban with the Coalition Support Funds provided by you, resulting in the deaths of thousands of your soldiers and those of NATO, you guys continue to pump in the dollars by the billions under various security assistance programs!

You guys pay for getting your own soldiers killed! Sucks, eh? What an irony! :undecided:

Your and our objectives are anything but common.

And please note that I am talking regarding the mid-east situation, not the Af-Pak situation.

We have no objectives in Syria or Libya or Bahrain or anywhere like that, while the US on the other hand regularly pokes it's nose in the name of a fake democracy. We saw what democracy has done for Libya and we are seeing what it is doing in Egypt. And we will see what it does in Syria.

so ttp are men of god :hitwall:

they found their natural allies with same faith same ideology (cannibalism) so it was only a matter of time that TTP, Al Qaeda & FSA were going to join hands and purge the Syria of all the minorities.
and once again Americans are funding and supporting the same fiends they supported back in the 80s and then their children will curse Turkey for all the mess in middle east just like Pakistan is being cursed.

as usual KSA and UAE will wash their hands off, they are conveniently away while turkey shares the border with Syria as well.

I am sure TTP will teach their FSA "brother" on how to behead people and how to impale and hack the women of "kafir" faiths

GOP should take measures to stop these idiots of TTP here or these idiots will turn this place into fassad

How these TTP men reached syria?
