Pakistan Joins Russia, Condemns Any Attempts to Topple Assad in Syria

The statements by the foreign secretary are not what the title claims.

Pakistan is also against foreign military intervention in Syria and fully supports the territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic," Aizaz Chaudhry said during a meeting of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee.

"Pakistan supports all efforts employed at facilitating a peaceful Syrian-led and inclusive solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people through a comprehensive political dialogue," he added.

How are the above statements in anyway pro-Assad? This has been Pakistan's stance in every such situation; Afghanistan, the Arab Spring states and Syria too (since the beginning).

Pakistan's stand is based on principal of non-interference in internal affairs of an sovereign country. change of leadership is an internal affair and should only be decided by the people of that country, no foreign country has any legal, moral or ethical ground to force their choice on any country, isn't that how "western" democracy works?

Syria is now a figment of imagination. Coming out now in support of Asad is unbelievable to say the least and does nothing more than scoring a few brownie points with Russia. Iran for all things concerned may end up in U.S. camp because of confluence of objectives in M.E.. At worst Pakistan should stay neutral because if anything Pakistan could have been instrumental in either camp at the beginning of the conflict in Syria and may have swayed opinion. However as things are right now Russia may never be able to salvage Syria and Pakistan gains nothing by siding with Asad whose disproportionate killings in Syria has taken it to point of no return.

Most in the international community want to get rid of groups like ISIS and al-Nusra who's goal is to start WW3 before transitioning Syria towards democracy. This may not be an ideal solution but there are hardly other alternatives considering Arab spring revolutions have failed to deliver stability to the region.

Arab spring is the start of World War three (WWIII) and it seems Turkey has been given the task to provoke Russia. ISIS was there to weaken these countries so when Israel goes to war with Middle East again (After or before ww3) - It easily wins, which brings me to Nuclear Pakistan being a Major threat for Israel, so Pakistan will be in the great war (Al-Malhama). I hope Pakistan realizes what's going on and has taken a stance, or I hope it will at some point and make an Alliance with Russia (RUM), as stated in the Hadith - That Muslims will make an Alliance with RUM (Eastern Byzantine) or East Orthodox Christianity which is allot closer to Islam over Catholic and Protestant Christianity - Plus the Western Christianity is in alliance with (Zionist) Jewish alliance, so Muslims (Turkey, Saudi, Qatar & all the rest) should not be in that alliance as foretold in the Quran/Hadith

This indeed is a huge shift and very sensible one. Saudi wars in Syria and Yemen are senseless with limited and very destructive objectives.

And who in their proper senses would want to support terrorists funded by west and Saudis/Qataris?

Would you want to support Al-Nusra, ISIS, Al-Qaeda over Assad? If you reject Assad, you are supporting terrorists. This is the equation west has involuntarily created and this is the equation west will be judged by.

You quoted this statement,

Just by mentioning "Syrian Arab Republic" which is the current government's title for the country, it means that Pakistan is leaning towards the government remaining in place, while on the other hand, countries like Saudi, Turkey, and Qatar have pushed for regime change.

This is a very good statement from Pakistan, and it shows that Pakistan might turn out to be the China of the Muslim world. China always insists on other countries respecting the territorial integrity of other countries. Pakistan has been making extremely smart & professional statements nowadays, and I'm loving their maturity. It's putting the rest of the regional Muslim countries to shame with their silly emotional statements, while Pakistan is doing the opposite.
