Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan on Sunday morning tweeted that the nation was still suffering from the aftermath of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s execution which happened in 1979.

Imran said this in relation to former Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, who has been sentenced to death.

“The sentencing of deposed president Mohamed Morsi to death bodes ill for the Egyptian people and for Egyptian democracy,” Imran tweeted.

On Saturday, an Egyptian court sentenced deposed president Mohamed Morsi and more than 100 other defendants to death on Saturday over jail breaks during the 2011 uprising.

Morsi was in the caged dock when the judge read out his verdict.

Many of those sentenced were tried in absentia, including prominent Islamic cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi who resides in Qatar.

Pakistan suffers from what Bhutto did to Pakistan...

And not from what Zia did and than his son Nawaz Sharif ? Also Mujahidin in Afghanistan and MQM who was made by Zia ?

Exactly how does Pakistan still suffer from the aftermath of Bhutto's execution?
Bhutto had the political power and the people were with him, his execution caused all sorts of trouble in Pakistan. Such people cannot be killed, they can only be defeated politically. For this you can thank Zardari.

Whats so wrong about this? Bhutto didn't do all good things in his time but for the most part it was him to took Pakistan to greater heights such as developing the Idea of Pakistan being a Nuclear power and moving it forward, intended to create an Islamic world Bank same as how the western countries have their own, increased number of Pak army officers and other stuff..he is to be respected for what he did in the UN, that speech man...it Oozes the term self respect of a leader of a nation...i've yet to see that from any Pakistani leader..however he made some critical mistakes for which people only remember him for now..they don't remember the good.

It's very easy to criticize leaders of their mistakes without any regard of the dynamic situation they were facing at that time... my only point is that the people chose him, he should not have been treated this way.

Bhuto was a tyrant likes of which are bashar al asad; qaddafi and sadam hussain. All of them socialists .. all of them brutal..
if zia had not taken initiative pakistan today wud have been like syria iraq and libya..
Asma jahangir and hina jillani are avid supporters of same ideology today..

As for afghan war; if we had not taken USSR to task; pakistan wud have been crushed between USSR red forces from west and their indian allies from east...
There was nothing wrong with afghan strategy, things went haywire after zia's death in 90's when isi lost all control on taliban

Not as much as pakistan suffered due to bhutto's nationalization and offcourse what he did after the election result which caused the war....First he splits the country in half, then destroys what ever still remains completely.

What Zia did was what was supposed to be done, Pakistan had to make sure USSR lost or else the world would have been a completely different place today with communism still alive and all...You cannot blame him for what ever happened after his death.

We are suffering from aftermath of allowing deobandis to migrate to Pakistan even despite their opposition to creation of Pakistan.

Everytime a democratically elected leader is removed from power in Pakistan, we are set back 10 years in the Past. 1990s, we had Nawaz Sharif and Bhutto struggling for power before Musharraf came in. When Musharraf left, we had no organized political parties besides PPP, ANP, PML-N so we returned to them.

Exactly how does Pakistan still suffer from the aftermath of Bhutto's execution?

How? The wave of sympathy generated by that created the most corrupt political party. That wave gave the party political space to practice corruption. Since Benazir first tenure, PPP has been nothing but a scandal of corruption.

Dont forget Al-Zulfiqar. The terrorist wing of PPP. To avenge Bhutto execution, it unleashed wave of terror in Pakistan targeting innocent Pakistanis.

The execution of Bhutto gave free license to politicians to do corruption. Its because thwey know eventually they will be let go. Isn't this the case now? The most corrupt and most incompetent have created a space for themselves and are at the top of Pakistan political hierarchy.

Also, to create an anti-Bhutto political system, Sharif was promoted as a politician. Sharif politics has been nothing but political, family and business self interest.

This is how Pakistan suffers from that political murder, 3 decades from that event.

Bhai Kal bhi bhutto Zinda tha , Aaj bhi Bhutto Zinda hai ( Unfortunately )

Unfortunately. All the political leaders who have made Pakistan suffer are all alive and well. The status quo politics of Pakistan.

Mqm was nurtured by Zia but not created, it came about as a reactionary organization for the grievances of 'mohajir' people in Karachi and Hyderabad, also poor governance from the center towards Karachi has also kept this rouge organization alive
