Pakistan standardizing Tank Upgradations

Thanks to @Dazzler for such a find. It seems Pakistan is standardizing the upgrades of FCS,and thermals on tanks from AL-Zarrar to T-80 UD to Al-Khalid. Here are the news snippets from the organization handling these upgrades.

On 25 June 2014, THALES OPTRONCIS & SHIBLI ELECTRONICS were awarded a Major Contract for the Up gradation of 105mm Tanks with Catherine Fire Control System. TOSA is the prime contractor where as SHIBLI ELECTRONICS – the Licensed KIP of Thales Optronics is the main subcontractor for the Production of Catherine Camera, System Interfaces and Integration of TI Systems in Tanks.

SHIBLI ELECTRONICS has been awarded a major contract for the UPGRADATION OF Eighty Eight “T-80 UD” Tanks 125mm with the Night Firing Systems. With Integration & Incorporation of the system, these main Battle will have full operational night capability. The Signing Ceremony of the contract was held in CWO Headquarter.

Nope, but they are a major partner of Thales group in this region and seem to have won their trust big time. Interestingly, they have absorbed and modified AK's fire control system and made some innovations to it as well. Overall, they are a handy outfit possessing some serious potential in electronics and optics.

Not true.

If I remember it correctly, Catherine FCS was one of the shortlisted ones when upgrade of AK was being planned and a lot of combos were being tried out there, engine pack, FCS, gearbox, and laser range finder.

nope .. all of them have due to hunter killer ability

But new firecontrol system will make them more accurate and capable during night firing

All this up gradation is fine but we need more new & better tanks ... Attay from Turkey is a best option .....
