We have the best intelligence apparatus in our region. What we need improving is the coordination between forces and our intel community who otherwise do like working on their own, especially in regards to SOF units. Steps are being taken in that direction.
Should Pakistan have an Integrated Special Operations Command?
.... Best is a matter of objective.
The CIA has its own Spec Ops unit the Special Activities Division, and if that unit is no where near a High Value Target or Asset, they get command of ant unit that is available. Not to mention Spec Operator are regularly delegated to CIA, DIA, NSA, etc.
The Us created SOCOM after Op Eagle Claw in Iran. The catastrophic failure of Special Forces to coordinate within Arms.
A short term stop plug led to Delta Force, but Congress was the true re-visionary. An entirely new Command was created in the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), led by Gen. James Lindsey, a man who actually had Spec Ops leadership tenures.
Gen Lindsey, was a no none sense theres time for fun and time to be serious man. He cracked heads and blackmailed others to get any and every unit he wanted to be part of his Spec Ops COMmand.
The created of the Command itself allowed for greater flexibility. Where as in the past the Navy would need it's SEALs, Army its own Delta Force or other Spec Ops Group. SOCOM allowed for any Spec Ops Unit within the vicinity of a mission to be en-route within minutes. No more battles over turf, relatively.
