Pakistan, South Korea agree to enhance defence cooperation
Minister for Defence Production attends the opening ceremony of Seoul ADEX 2015.


Pakistan and South Korea have agreed to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of defence production.

The agreement came during a meeting between Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain and South Korea's DG Defence Industry Promotion Oh Won Jin in Seoul.

The two sides agreed to enhance defense capabilities by helping each other through joint ventures.

Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain is on a five days visit, along with Chairman H.I.T Lt. Gen Wajid Hussain, to China and South Korea. The minister also attended the opening ceremony of Seoul ADEX 2015.

Rana Tanveer Hussain also met Korean Minister for National Defence, Han Minkoo.

Nice development but questions is where SK can help us in defence field??? What more advance systems they can offer over China and Turkey??

Most of the turkish system like Altay or panter etc are rooted from SK ... SK is very advance in manufacturing weapons, especially land and sea platform like arty, tanks, frigates, light rockets etc etc ... We have already cooperated with them in ammunition field...

Now they are interested in building 2 shipyards in Pakistan .. It will be win win for pakistan

Hyundai Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering are some shipping companies owned by South Korea and they have been building ships for South Korean Navy for quite a time now. With the need to beef up our navy this can be a real opportunity.

The South Koreans currently field the largest destroyer in an Asian navy.

India should have put more effort in the Look East Policy. Merely concentrating on Japan and ignoring South Korea was not a good thing.

SK is investing in heavy destroyers so they might be willing to sell their older ones. The K-9 is an excellent arty gun and some say is even better than the German PzH 2000.
