Sir sects are not a big issue the religion is one the faith is one. It was being exploited for political reason.
While the at moment the issue the anti-Muslim sentiments and Anti-Islam propoganda and attacks against Muslims arround the world.
The sects are not the problem to the world also.
At the moment we Muslim countries need to combine their Streangth from Wealth to Mind and Human resource and for that one platform is required.
Jana,
There is no doubt Islamic Faith is one.
However, it is divided into a variety of sects, each intolerant of the other.
Even if one notices this forum, whenever the issue of Iran comes in, the posts become lukewarm, but when it is about Palestine, there is fire and brimstone! Therefore, much that one would like to see Islam as Islam, there will be always that divide in the subconscience.
The same is there in Christianity and other religions. Catholics and Protestant. Let's take Christianity, which I understand more than other religions. Even though there are two major division, yet a whole lot of others sects (if you wish) have emerged.
What does this mean?
It means that men will be men. More than pursuing spiritual issues, the temporal issues like POWER has always overpowered. In European history, there has always been the struggle between the Temporal authority (Kings) and the Spiritual authority (Church). A study of the rise and fall of the Holy Roman Empire would reveal very interesting facts.
And why did the Church divide?
Likewise, same is the case of the Islamic faith and the issue of Shia and Sunni. The division is basically a overflow of temporal issues. Other factors have been cranked in to make it (the reason for the divide) look "acceptable".
So long as there is Man, there will be this struggle for Power.
The conflict between Islam and the West, what is it? It is all a question of power or being supreme.
Therefore, it is a moot point if any Faith will ever be one or there will be a time then there will be peace and there is no struggle for supremacy.
Therefore, it is but a dream to believe that a Faith can be one or that there will be peace on Earth. Good ideas, but very difficult to achieve.
I am a pragmatist and not a dreamer and so do overlook my being frank.
