Both countries ( Pakistan and India ) football teams are pathetic. Indian football is like school children playing football in the ground.

Its an embarassment to watch Indian football matches.

We have to increase the standards drastically to play against decent footballing nations.

"Iran has more then 10,000 c license coaches whereas we have only 150 or so c license coaches
only 8 b
and 2 a license coaches. "

"india has got 274 pro-license football coaches."

That means $ and resources aren't being funneled into football at all. No couches, no success.

LAHORE: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)’s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has asked all the captains of the five participating teams in the Super Football League (SFL) 2010 to wear the captain’s band to distinguish themselves from other team mates.

“It has been noticed that managers/coach of several teams ignore this practice which can put them into trouble in the future as Match Commissioners/ Referee deserve the right to bring the team’s official and captain under punishment,” he added.



SFL 2010 will be held at Karachi’s Peoples Sports Complex, Lyari Town from June 11 to July 31, 2010 where the participants will be titlist Islamabad United, Karachi Energy, Peshawar’s Tribe FC, Quetta Zorawar and Lahore Lajpaals.



“Throughout every game of football, each team must have a team captain and he must wear a captain’s armband. It makes it easier for the referees to recognize the captain on the field during the game. I have seen several matches of World Cup 2006 and other FIFA/AFC shows and didn’t see a single skipper missing the captain’s armband.”



“Why do the referees need to recognize the captain? The most important reason is because the captain is responsible for the behavior of all of the players in the team. If the captain is substituted or sent off, the armband must be transferred to another member of the team on the field,” said Faisal.



He added that the captain’s armband is compulsory for all the teams who play in the event under the jurisdiction of PFF.



Faisal also asked the PFF Operation Wing, Manager Competition and Match Commissioners to check the behavior of the team management regarding captain’s armband. – PPI

Pakistan Premier Football League kicks off

LAHORE: KESC, Pakistan Air Force and debutants Young Blood snatched victories on the opening day of Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) that commenced simultaneously on Thursday in Nushki, Sahiwal, Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.



1986 champions Pakistan Air Force gained full points with a hard-earned 1-0 win over four-time national title holder Pakistan Army at Satellite Town’s Municipal Stadium, Rawalpindi. Muhammad Mujahid returned as hero from the filed as his 43rd minute goal proved to be enough.



First-timers Young Blood opened their mission with a lone goal win over at Sahiwal’s Rai Ali Nawaz Stadium. The goal was scored by Ghulam Fareed in the 12th minute.



The ostentatious Model Town Football Academy Ground in Lahore saw Pak Elektron staging recovery twice to hold seven-times national champion Pakistan WAPDA 2-2 in a tense battle.



WAPDA led 1-0 at half time thanks to a breath taking goal from Imran Niazi who slipped the ball past keeper Saqib Hanif through a pass by winger Qamar Zaman in the 14th minute.



PEL rallied back in the second half with all out attacks and equalised in the 60th minute when substitute Ijaz Sarfraz beat keeper Abdul Aziz with a fierce angular drive on the left corner. But WAPDA’s skipper and striker Arif Mehmood restored WAPDA’s lead in the 72nd minute with an unstoppable drive to make it 2-1.



PEL’s skipper Asmat Ullah had answered his counterpart with a 78th minute leveler. The unmarked Asmat connected the left wing cross from winger Waqas Ahmed past Aziz’s outstretched right hand.



KESC also made an impressive start by beating KPT in front of a big gathering at KPT Stadium in Karachi. Winger Orangzaib Senior was the star performer with two goals in the 10th and 31st minute while the top scorer of 2008, Muhammad Rasool was the other scorer in the 69th minute.



KPT replied through spearhead Muhammad bin Younus in the 59th minute. The absorbing Nushki’s Baloch Club - Chaman’s Afghan FC clash finished in a goalless draw at Nushki Stadium.

Head coach vows to make Pakistan football No 1 in Asia

Pakistan’s newly-inducted head coach Jose Antonio Nogueira has vowed to make Pakistan football No 1 in Asia.

In his video message released by Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) to media on Tuesday, passionate Brazil-born Pakistan head coach said: "My dream is to make Pakistan the No 1 team in Asia. To top the region is step one.”

Jose Antonio Nogueira, who hails from Brazil, reached the country today (Wednesday) to coach the national football team with the aim of lifting it to top in at least Asia. The head coach was welcomed by PFF officials at the airport.

In the latter half of the day, the PFF will accord a warm reception at All Brothers Football Stadium at 4pm at Malir, Karachi to the newly-inducted coach. He will also watch the National Challenge Cup match between National Bank Pakistan (NBP) and Falcon Football Club.

PFF President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat warmly welcomed the new head coach and expressed his jubilance over the arrival of an experienced coach, who is very passionate to work for the betterment of Pakistan football. “We are thankful to Bahrain Football Association for their support in this respect. I am sure through his vast coaching experience and passion, Nogeuira will bring Pakistan at top position in the region very soon.

"We have already lost three precious years of Pakistan football. We have to work hard to bring the football back on the right track as soon as possible. I hope the arrival of new head coach will certainly help in our cause of lifting Pakistan football from scratch. I am very positive that now Pakistan football will further flourish and get top spot in Asia,” Faisal added.
