The headline says "The terror safe havens affect Pak-US ties" and the moron who made the statement should know that it is USA that's providing and conniving with anti-Pakistan terrorists. I believe this statement is written on a paper so I will request Mr. Pentagon to roll this up nice and smooth ...and throw it in the trash can. Right now USA has to explain why she has failed to take an action against terrorist Fazal and other TTP leaders hiding in Afghanistan. Also why did he not say anything about the current construction of gates along Pak-Afgh border which shows Pakistan's sincerity in curbing the flow of terrorists across the borders while ANA disrupts it by firing on behest of USA.

Pakistan should stop being a host to terrorist groups, says Pentagon

The United States defence establishment Pentagon has urged Pakistan to stop providing safe havens to terrorist and extremist groups in its soil in a bid to help improve the security environment of the region.

The Department of Defense in its report to the Congress titled "Enhancing Security and Stability in Afghanistan" stated "Pakistan must play a role in reducing the threat from terrorist and militant groups in the region", reports Khaama Press.

The report further added consistent mid-level military-to-military dialogue between Afghanistan and Pakistan on specific issues, such as the shared threat from Islamic State - Khurasan (IS-K), and occasional discussions at higher levels of the military and government early in the reporting period were encouraging.

"However, sustained Pakistani efforts to pressure the Haqqani Network and the Taliban and to disrupt active threat streams are necessary to help decrease violence in the region", the report said.

The report also mentioned that the U. S. continues to support the re-invigorated efforts of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group, which includes the Afghan, Pakistani, and Chinese governments, to set conditions for an eventual Afghan-led, Afghan-owned peace process with the Taliban and other militant groups.

Despite this, the prospects for a successful dialogue were hampered by the Taliban's April 19, HPA in Kabul this year, the Afghan government's subsequent response imploring Pakistan to take more direct action against extremist groups seeking safe haven in Pakistan, and the death of Taliban leader Mullah Mansour.

"The United States continues to be clear with Pakistan about steps it should take to improve the security environment and deny safe haven to terrorist and extremist groups. These conversations continue to affect not only U.S. dialogue with Pakistan on security and stability in Afghanistan but also during discussion of other issues in the U.S.-Pakistan bilateral relationship such as security assistance," the report added.

This comes as the Afghan officials have long been criticizing Pakistan for failing to take actions against the groups using the Pakistani soil to carry out attacks in Afghanistan.

The Afghan officials suspect the Haqqani terrorist network and the Taliban group leaderships are based in Quetta and Peshawar cities of Pakistan.

For a country in which the ex taliban spokesman Muslim Khan lived in and did not ever commit a terror attack but decided to come back to Swat and has the murder of dozens of Pakistanis on his hands it is a big thing to say. Why did Muslim Khan not kill a single American in his 20+ years living there. Why was Abdullah Mehsud released from Guantanamo. Why was Nazir killed while he had declared total war on the TTP targetted in a bomb attack by the same TTP a week before his drone strike killing. Why was Nek Mohammad killed when we had a peace deal with him. If Americans complain we can too. But the Pakistani government has not studied the conflict nor have majority of Pakistanis. We do not even know who muslim khan is.

America has used Pakistan as a pawn on its chessboard. Obviously most Pakistanis will hate Americans. US is gearing up for a Presler Amendment like thing. I warned from the beginning that this would be the end result of the Pak-US alliance. They abandoned us after the Afghan-Soviet war and they are doing so again-blaming us while we suffer the negative impact of their policies in Afghanistan.

And the US should stop supporting terrorism in Syria and Middle East. US should also stop giving protection to TTP in Afghanistan. This is the language we now need to use against US of A. Like i say its time we shed this soft approach of ours and get more assertive in our dealings. Countries like US and Afghanistan are literally taking us for granted. Summoning US envoy and giving him a Shut up call in the need of the hour. US should be categorically told that their ties with India should not come at our expense because we know why US comes with such statements and who are they mean to please.

Problem is that we have people ruling us who have all their business interests and money and passports of these countries. Hukumat yahan kerta hain paisa, jaidad, bacha sub bahir hain. This is what IK use to say conflict of interests. How can such people to be expected to talk on behalf of Pakistan and keep Pakistan's interests at heart when they know the moment they are thrown out or jailed these countries would come to their rescue.
This depicts our situation. Ultimately its the fault of people of Pakistan who dont get it. They like to remain fooled and gullible.

In that, I have lately started to blame the Military leadership more then the Civilian leadership. Why cannot the Military leadership speak to the Americans openly and bluntly about the 2-faced American tactics. On this hand they want Pakistan to use its influence on the Talibaan to bring them to the negotiating table and on the other hand they want Pakistan to go to war against Talibaan.

I mean WTF is going on? Why can't the ISPR very openly ask the US Government, through the media, to make up its mind whether it wants Pakistan to bring the Talibaan to negotiations or to go to war with them! And also ask them openly who is responsible for the USD 100+ Billion loss to Pakistan and how the US wants to go about addressing it? And while we are at it, somebody also ask US why it is arming India to the teeth when it calls us the Non Nato Ally and is well aware that India is a hateful enemy. What double, triple game is the US up to, somebody should ask the US Government and Donald Trump as well, the former for confrontation and the later for the heck of it.

How can military talk eye ball to eye ball with uncle Sam with dignity and honour , when they beg Americans for coalition support funds and subsidized arms ammunitions and F sola.

American Colleges teach everything but logic I Guess

why would any country host a group that threatens its homeland security ???

i think its about time the US stopped pretending to be so naive

US should get out from AFGHANISTAN,they are being insulted by everyone.......

Terrorist will automatically die soon.....:sniper:

It's the job of the government and not the military. If military is suppose to do everything then why have this pathetic excuse of a government? Military does convey it's concern but they do it their way and military to military. Government to government it's the FO, FM and PM. Since we don't have an FM so in our case just PM and FO and we all know what kind of job they are doing .
