Opened this thread due to we put out focus on fighter jets etc but these beast we forget which are backbone if any force as Pakistan procured last time in 80 era C 130 Hercules we did not purchased since than any cargo plane apart from C 32 from China which are also as medium lift as we know our military are growing we need heavylifter cargo China recently made Y 20 cargo plane it is similar to C 17 Globemaster but no compromise on quality and features keeping in mind Chinese premieres visit Pakistan should order 2 to 4 Y 20 aircrafts

China's first indigenously-developed heavy military transport aircraft, Y-20, is being built by Xi'an Aircraft Industry (Group), a part of Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), for the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). It is also the biggest domestic strategic airlifter ever built in China.
The aircraft can be deployed in the transportation of personnel and heavy equipment during military assault, and humanitarian assistance and peacekeeping missions. It can also be configured for airborne early warning and control (AEW&C), anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and aerial refuelling missions.
"The first Xian Y-20 prototype successfully made its first flight at Shaanxi Yanliang Aviation Base in January 2013."
The first Xian Y-20 prototype successfully made its first flight at Shaanxi Yanliang Aviation Base in January 2013. The second prototype took into skies in December 2013. The aircraft was displayed at China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition 2014 (Airshow China) held in Zhuhai.
The PLAAF needs 400 Y-20 transport aircraft and expects deliveries of the same to begin in 2017.
Xian Y-20 development

The Y-20 project is part of an initiative to build China's large transportation aircraft under Medium-and Long-Term National Science and Technology Development Programme 2006-2020 (MLP).
Two major Chinese aviation companies Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation and Xi'an Aircraft Corporation expressed interest to develop the Y-20 aircraft, but Xi'an was announced as the manufacturer of Y-20 in 2007.
Design and features of Y-20 heavy airlifter

The aircraft features deep and wide fuselage for cargo section and T-tail empennage configuration with high-mounted horizontal surfaces on the vertical stabiliser. The centre fuselage is hinged with moderately sweptback, high-mounted monoplane wings integrating triple-slotted trailing-edge flaps. A pair of engine nacelle is fitted under each wing.
The Y-20 airlifter has a glass cockpit, which accommodates three crew members. It features a rear cargo-loading assembly allowing the loading / unloading of large-sized cargo and equipment.
KJ-2000 (Mainring) Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Aircraft, China
KJ-2000 (Mainring) is an AEW&C aircraft designed and developed by AVIC Xi'an Aircraft Industry Company.
The aircraft is expected to measure 44m to 47m in length and 18m in height and have a wingspan of 50m. The maximum takeoff weight of the aircraft is approximately 220t and the maximum payload carrying capacity is 66t.
Engines and performance

The power plant of the Y-20 prototypes integrates four D-30KP-2 turbofan engines, whereas the production aircraft is expected to be equipped with WS-20 engines. WS-20 is the most powerful aircraft engine developed by China.
The engine develops a power output of 14t and offers a higher bypass ratio for fuel efficiency. It will replace the less powerful and less efficient Russian D-30KP, which generates 10.5t of thrust. The WS-20 turbofan has been under trail on Il-76 test aircraft since 2014. The aerial testing is expected to conclude in late 2015, paving the way for service entry on Y-20 aircraft.
The Y-20 aircraft can perform missions in adverse weather conditions and can also land at small airports in mountainous regions.
Landing gear

The aircraft is equipped with a retractable landing gear comprising two main landing gear units and a nose unit. Each of the two main units on either side of under-fuselage features six wheels, which are arranged in a two-two-two layout from front-to back.
The steerable nose gear includes a standard twin-wheel leg unit. The landing gear allows take-offs and landings on rough airfields or unpaved runways.

The title is misleading, it suggests that Pakistan has announced that it is considering buying the Y-20, an aircraft that is still under deep development.

We dont need heavy lifters but we do need heavy bombers and good fighter jets. Instead of buying heavy lift jets should try for heavy lift chopers

.
Yes we need it why? Cause you think on a limited timef frame we need it after 2018 for rapid transport your railway is shit and your c130 aren't enough for immediate transport of heavy cargo. Say yes to Y-20 No to common idiocy

.
Yes we need these heavy lifters, Pakistan is a large country given the road and railway systems it is wise to have a major airlift capability.

Railway is now far better condition then it was 2 years back and improving

Pakistan army should now think of this beast helicopter because it is massive it can be used for multiple use as Pakistan don't have any type of heavylifter helicopter this beast can do everything
1. Best for flood relief operation which we see every year
2 Best for Medical air hospital to carry injured troops with more space it can be mini air hospital
3.Best for heavy lifting at higher altitudes which we have in siachin glacier our troops have less amount of traveling through hard snowy train of siachin
4. It can carry heavy equipment like tanks,APC,100 of troops, howitzers etc
U name it this beast does it

In 2008 flood mi 26 was been used by in in pakistan

.
We need heavy lifter .... its mandatory in future warfare and in other disasters. Look, every airforce in today's world having heavy filters the reason is they are not only for military use. Y20 will mature and Pakistan must hands on that beast!

Next thread from Super Falcon "Pakistan army should consider F-35"

Bhai Super Falcon,

1) Induction of a new platform, always has a learning curve, some steeper than others.
2) Maintenance
3) Cost $/hr.
4) Training
5) Avg down time of the aircraft in question

etc etc etc. Kindly take the above into consideration. Thank You

C17 is a strategic lifter, we don't have any need of it. In fact no nation needs it except USA because they fight a lot of wars overseas. C130 is best suited for us because it can land at and take-off from shorter runways so it can access even smaller airbases.

Who made you analyst I said should I never said Pakistan did please open you eyes

Pakistani railways are good or not it is another debate even if we have good railway we still need it Pakistan military are growing countries like uae Bahrain Qatar etc which are more smaller than pak still bought C 17 heavylifter in war time these cargo are backbone of supplies C 130 smaller plane

For relief operations it is also good
