What's new

Pakistan refuse to accept two key demands of IMF .

and previous governments were also blaming Government before them i.e martial laws, Musharraf, war on terror, terrorism, PPP and according to them they also inherited economy in bad shape....so it seem everyone has simple excuse to do nothing to fix it but just put all blame on previous governments

Its different this time as Imran and his government, despite is shortcomings in experience and government affairs, is intent on turning things around. It was quite similar to some extent when Musharraf came to power. The country did bounce back then. The transformation, though short lived, was quite remarkable under Musharraf.

Then came the Thugs of Pakistan after getting NRO and agreement called Charter of Dakaitee. Even though what PPP inherited from Musharraf was actually quite good, their intention was never to improve Pakistan but to appease Washington with appointment of Haqqani and accepting the hegemony of India in shifting American geopolitical objectives.

There were. But the time in PM office was still lot more then 14 weeks.

When did I say that? Yes, not much can change in 14 weeks but I we all can agree at end of this term the country can decide and we can expect some change. If not then yes PTI will have failed. But people here are giving their score cards when the government has not even completed one year of it's five year term.

And don't forget it was one of these 'interuptions' [when General Zia overthrew a elected government of Zulfikar Bhutto in 1978] that spawned your darling puppy - Nawaz in the first place.
If ayub brought Bhutto and if Zia brought Nawaz then people are giving same argument about who brought this new puppy Imran khan who could hardly win few seats when contested election without any help from political engineers of our country lol and you never know when will also become bad guys in eyes of establishment and will face same fate like them.

there will be no opposition left at the end of this term ( Nawaz/shabaz in jail and zaradri will land there soon) which will be good because no one will be there to blame if your calipha failed to make Naya Pakistan :D

see I don't care who run government as long as they bring some relief to poor/middle class people and they don't understand complicated economics

The people did. Please tell me did Nawaz or Bhutto have 22 years of paddling in the political wilderness behind them? For them it was "it is yoooooou" by military dictators and straight into office.
yes just like people created new PML(Q) to hurt the vote bank of PML(N) and new PTI to hurt the vote bank of MQM in Karachi. Karachite suddenly got awake and started voting for PTI in 2018 election

so its again people who break parties to make new alliances and create independents who switch form one party to others i.e look how southern politicians from PML(N) shifted their loyalties just before election.. Its again people who make JIT for certain candidate while give reliefs to certain others ..Pakistani politics is not as simple as you are trying to portray ..you mentioned yourself that establishment have been playing role in politics and we know situation of judiciary as well who have been dictated by dictators in the past so we all know how free an independents they are but still no other option but to let it continue

Some people just do not have the grasp of the reality or have any common sense. You cannot expect a new government which is 40-days old to take RESPONSIBILITIES of the fuc.k ups of the past 30 years by absolute filthy thugs like Nawaz, Zardari and so on. One has to be an absolute Jack-as.s for not holding these two thugs responsible for the brutality and barbarism they caused on this country for decades.

from 4400 to 4700; The IMF is asking for a nearly 7% increase in tax collection. Does Pakistan have a progressive tax system where the rich pay a higher rate? Pakistan needs them to pay more; especially if they benefited from the economic growth of the last 20 years. Its in their long term interest to pay more, as It will stabilize Pakistan and make more room for their businesses to expand.

.
A 13% interest rate will be a precursor for hyperinflation, good that Pakistan rejected it.

Looks like they have decided to screw the common man!

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has agreed to a condition from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to raise electricity tariff.

Geo quoted a source as saying that Pakistan and IMF have come to agreement on two of the four points for a bailout package.

Pakistan, however, turned down the IMF’s demand regarding revenue gathering targets.

Pakistan put forth its stance saying that the current year the tax collection target will not be raised from Rs4400 billion. Sources said that the IMF had asked Pakistan to raise the target to Rs4700 billion.

Pakistan has also turned down the demand to raise the interest rate up to 13 per cent on bank loans, saying that it could be detrimental to its economy.

Basically lower class, lower middle class and middle class are set to be hit. These are the people who form support base of IK. SO its fitting that they pay for Tabdeeli, they so dearly wanted.

Amusing to see Newspapers resorting to presenting half truths. No mention of Electricity tariff increase in OP at all. Goebbels would be so proud.

The nation must pay the price, one way or another, IMF or no IMF. The reckoning is inevitable.
