Well his assertion is not wrong completely. YES, there is martyrdom.. but there is also normal wish to live and avoid being shot.. and killed.. there is the worry of families.. and so on. As far as the rangers are concerned.. the whole research perhaps skips their less than brave behaviour when deployed for law enforcement in cities or even when responding to a terror attack.

So the gung ho ideals are more tempered than you think. A good officer can inspire the desire for martyrdom by boosting morale.. likewise an officer who isnt really himself that confident will have the Rangers running for cover west as well.
A good look at the performance on the forces in the 71 war will show where the ideals of martyrdom stay and where they end.

Martyrdom has a much more powerful influence within the Pakistani armed forces.. especially against India and that is granted.. as all fighting spirit is good. But that should not be taken as the only reliable facet of the force.

Case in point, your own govt(Sartaj Aziz) has absolved India of involvement in Pehawar attack.

He does not speak for 180 M population. Furthermore he said "Pakistan would not blame"...does not mean he gave a clear sheet rejecting the possibility of the fact that Indian RAW in coordination with their TTP @$$h0l3s via Indian consulates in Afghanistan carried that attack.

I have no clue what you wrote in that first line, kindly explain.

Had BSF started targeting your villages, you would have had many more civilian casualties or atleast injuries(just like last time, when 11 Pakistan civilians were killed and 68 injured)

Where as Pakistani mortar firing on Indian villages has already begun in last 24 hrs..that is why our civilian casualties and injuries are much more .

Maybe tonight(as most intense firing takes place during night only) things might change...just like in october, on first day of the flare up..Pakistan shelled Indian village of Arnia and India suffered 5 civilian casualties on first day itself..but beginning next day BSF targeted Pakistani villages too ..and Pakistani civilian casualties started mounting.

For the level of jingoism displayed here u would expect 90% of the posters to be lining outside recruitment centres of their respective armies.

Apart from some 10% Zaid Hamid/Subramanan swamy types.. the rest are closet bigots and chest thumpers who will normally be seen shaking their heads in from of superiors meekly. In the past operations Pak Army had proved Indian involvement in supporting TTP. Therefore there is no dispute that Indians supported these TTPers.
