A big question is that whether the effectiveness has been established that so many countries are after this drug?

A virologist in France:

"Didier Raoult has presented his own study of 1,061 people treated with hydroxychloroquine, claiming a 91.7% success rate, with a "poor outcome" for 46 patients. However, several French scientists have already described the study as flawed."

India, ME nations, African nations and USA are moving to secure stocks.

Is it a coincidence that regions endemic for malaria have been hit a bit less severely for now by Covid19? Is it that we're just at different stages of similar outbreaks? Is it due to strains being different? Is it also related to BCG vaccination in TB endemic areas, which overlap with malaria endemic regions? It's a complex issue but many are gambling on Chloroquine rather than risking missing out. I am in the Chloroquine camp to be honest. Pakistan should definitely stockpile it. Anyway, Pakistan already allocates chloroquine treatment in part of its algorithm, as someone on pdf showed me on a different thread the other day.

It is not about effectiveness of this drug against COVID-19. The ban is to protect people of Pakistan due to rampant malaria in Pakistan. How are you going to protect people against malaria when there is no drug left in Pakistan?
