Pakistan proposes petrol import from India

It's not about being cheap or expensive, its about our govt. and the whole idea is part of a larger conspiracy.

We already get petrol from Saudi Arabia at subsidized rates, deferred payments and even free.
Therefore, price factor does not come in.

What are the pressing need for making such proposal? Did our own refineries are closed because of load shedding? or are not feasible due to high taxes? or did Rawlibans are earning some business for their masters?

In principal before talking price the quality of petrol need to be discussed and any petroleum engineer can tell you that Indian refineries or quality have no match to refineries of Saudi Arabia and petrol from Saudi Arabia.

Zardari regime is doing every thing what they get as dictation from enemies of Pakistan.

WOW! Did'nt knew that it is Largest refinery in Whole World.

But i don't like it's Location. This refinery could have been made in South.

The refinery and Reliance Industries have both come under criticism because the site is located extremely close to the border with Pakistan. This places India's biggest and most crucial refinery in direct risk of attack if there is ever a war.

I. EXPANSION OF THE REFINING BASE - (KHALIFA COASTAL REFINERY)
Foreseeing the mounting demand of deficit POL products in Pakistan, PARCO in alliance with International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) of Abu Dhabi, is endeavouring on a 250,000 bpd deep conversion refinery with a foreign direct investment of US $6 billion, at Khalifa point near Hub in Pakistan’s province of Balochistan. The IPIC and other UAE Government institutions will have the majority of the shareholding i.e. 74% shares in the project, whereas Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO) will have 26% of the holding.

Commissioned in the year 2000, PARCO’s 100,000 barrels per day, state-of-the-art Mid-Country Refinery (MCR) at Mahmood Kot near Multan, represents about 35% of Pakistan’s refining capacity. It helps substitute import of refined, value-added oil products to the tune of US$ 100 million per year.

We are waiting for the new refining capacity to come on line, import is just temporary.
