Arabs don't obsess about skin color. We have very pale looking Arabs, Arabs with green or blue eyes, gingers, light/brownish hair, dark hair (majority), olive skin (majority), more darker nuances and Afro-Arabs (either fully African in ancestry or Arab-African mixtures in other words Mulattos). Most people don't differentiate (might have their own preferences) and there are no castes. Racism as known in the West is not a part of Arab culture. Social status, whether you were a noble or a commoner, which clan or tribe you belonged to (once again power as well) played a much bigger role.

We have pretty much looked the same as in ancient times where the first civilizations and first known rulers emerged in the world (Arab world).
