Advantage of having democratically elected Govt. is that you can discredit him in the next election. To me Imran Khan looks good candidate and it should be elected in the next election. But to maintain peace, stability and international prestige, Gilani should remain PM till elections are completed. This would ensure stability and balance between all institutions of Pakistan. Also, Zardari will be eligible for trial once his party looses election and his tenure gets over. So, whats so hurry to convict him so early. Moreover, by doing so, they will put forward themselves as martyr rather than guilty.

All this makes, Army a silent but the most powerful institution at the back. Moreover, Presidents always enjoys immunity when in office. Even in India, Supreme Court has no power to allow trial on President/Governor when in office. This is to ensure, that no other institution becomes politically motivated and target the Executive body.
