Pakistan one of the least racist countries in the world: Survey

I have no problem with anyone who want to live together. They can do so. About Kashmiris both on India side and on Pakistan side, they can join them too - but without Kashmir. India has strategic interests that are served with Kashmir, atleast the portion it currently owns - legally or 'illegally' for all I care; that land will remain with India.

My only issue is that when people claim that it is religion that binds them together as a nation, I think they are bullshitting.
Fair enough. Our differing views on Kashmir aside, I personally agree that religion alone typically is not enough (though an argument can certainly be made). However, that does not mean that it cannot be a strong uniting factor. It most certainly can.

you will find many Bangladeshis who think they are above Indians and Pakistani based on some of their biased personal experiences
dont talk about them they are on mars right now
perhaps magalyaan will provide us some understanding about them

Very interesting to see that our neighbors are trying to prove their own point of view against a neutral study.

If you follow a religion that says that you can't differentiate on the basis of cast and color, know that its the best religion to follow. When a religion says that minorities living within parameters of Islamic government controlled areas should be protected by the Muslim army just like all other Muslims, know that it is the best religion to follow.

Islam teaches many morals that many Muslims do not follow. It doesn't mean that Islam is wrong, it means that people are not following their religion.

I am a Muslim and I hate when any minor incident occurs in Pakistan against any minority religion. Islam is my identity, however, it doesn't mean that I will not employ a non-Muslim in my business or will treat him any different. Yes, there are certain religious requirements that may separate Muslims and non-Muslims in a society, for example, going into a mosque, not eating Haraam food, not consuming alcohol etc, but these doesn't affect minorities in a Muslim society in a bad way.

You can argue it in other way as well. Islam calls for a ummah but still Arabs want to keep Pakistani and Bangladeshi separate in their country. Bangladeshi who were once Pakistani perhaps are not that inclined to live together with Pakistanis. Hence, I question the efficacy of Islam -or any other religion for that matter- as a binding force for keeping a nation together. What was the point of demanding a nation solely on the basis of religion when the people of same religion aren't exactly that much more inclined to live together.
In Islam it is clearly written racism is a Curse If the majority of people are not following that preaching then who is to blame.
But If you take a broader view and apply different parallel thoughts of the time then its outcome will tell you a different story. Democracy is a parallel school of thought that stands on pillars of Majority is the authority and our land our rule types of slogans. Democracy is a type of governing system that propels you to build "Masjid of 1.5 Brick" (dadh eint ki masjid). So dragging BD separation issue here and then connecting it with Islam & Ummah is not a good idea in a first place.
Secondly, in Islam Politics is allowed at the regional level and they are allowed to take the decision at the regional level. for example Eid moon sighted in Saudia won't let BD, Indian,Pak Muslims to celebrate Eid. One more example will clarify you.....In Islam, it is allowed to marry women of Christians and Judaism But during the time of Caliphate ...Muslims Army was advancing very fast and had taken many pretty women into their Haram. The Caliph of his time forbade his army to take more girls and ordered them to divorce all previous .....because if that trend becomes mature then who will marry the Arab Girl?? So Caliph has drawn a line between two extremes

There is nothing special about any religion in particular. All are essentially fairy tales packaged with prevailing politics and some sort of morals relevant at that time.

You have to realize that by saying this you run the risks of
  1. Offending everyone who believe in a religion.
  2. Going off topic.
  3. Being considered a boor.

Not saying that religion is useless - it has its purpose; but religion is not grand enough to be basis for a nation and religion alone cannot hold a nation together. Ideally religion should not be running a nation but then many people attempt it with sometimes disastrous results.

Ottomans?

As far as visible difference between Hindus and Muslims go - firstly religious state of a person is mutable. Secondly - one can easily be confused for other. You know there are a number of surnames in India and Pakistan that are common between Hindus and Muslims and Sikhs - Chaudhary, Inamdar, Cheema, Chaddha etc. Point is unless you WANT it badly - its very easy for both of them to appear same. Now try passing as a white person if you are black or even brown. This was my point when I said 'religion is all in your head and has no natural or physical basis'. And that is why I feel it is stupid to demand a nation solely on the basis of religion.

This is how a muslim looks like (or is supposed to look like) and yes I am talking about the normal religious muslims.

This is what a religious Hindu looks like, enough separation? If you are going to say that he is a pundit, which not all hindus are, then still mate, a normal Hindu still wouldn't look like the person above in normal circumstances.

The reason perhaps people ask for a separate nation or state is because they fear that some other religion will start setting up the policies that are contrary to their religious believes. Issue here is, perhaps, mixing of religion in policy making. Pakistan - to the best of my understanding - never even attempted to keep religion and policy making separate. India is struggling to keep policy making separate. US perhaps have achieved it - Separation of state and church and all. This separation is imperfect but functional.

Ever heard about Umar R.A's caliphate?

You can argue it in other way as well. Islam calls for a ummah but still Arabs want to keep Pakistani and Bangladeshi separate in their country. 100 years of history does not explain 1400 years of history. You will see Caliphate being formed again in the next 1.5 decades. It is already happening, you people dont see it, but we do, and no I am not talking about ISIS.

There are many Pakistani who do so as well. I believe if you look around you will find many Bangladeshis who think they are above Indians and Pakistani based on some of their biased personal experiences. We all are united in our ignorance.

That has nothing to do with the topic.
