what the ****?

they've made movies of stealing our nukes?

blown way too much out of proportions.

There is no civil war going on or looming ahead. There is no chronic food shortahe ahead. There is no regional political force in Pakistan that is stronger then establishment. All major political forces have vested interests in cohesion of state. Baloch movements, MQM ANP etc dont hold much public support to persue people to rebel against state.
Worsened economy will mean more load shedding, more expensive transportation and fuel, lesser income, tougher living conditions. But people dont just decide one day to come out on streets with gun blazing and declare war on street like simpletons believe.

Taliban can create all mess and chaos but they cannot cause a civil war like syria. They enjoy the space provided by our establishment to justify hefty defense expenses. All they can do is guerella attacks and terrorism. They cannot fight a war to defeat a military. They have negligible political power.
Folks undermine too much about the importance Pak (read Pindi Boys) holds for the US policymakers (read Pentagon Boys)......

Pakistan is currently going through a deep economic crisis and is at the brink of having defaulted. The situation is not entirely unexpected or surprising in any way. Many different mafias are having a stranglehold of our nation-state to satisfy their un-ending greed as if there is no tomorrow. We, as a nation, are currently unable to pay back even the installments on the loans that we have taken in the past. For last few years, we have been getting more loans for returning those installments and repeatedly begging for donations from brotherly countries such as Saudi Arabia and UAE. All that has continuously been done so shamelessly by our leadership (both military and civilian) without addressing the real root causes of the problem. How can a country sustain its balance of payments if that country has exports worth merely a US$25 billion while importing goods worth more than US$70 billion every year? I think we, as a nation, seriously need to identify and address the causes of our getting on a slippery slope and then make a realistic road map (or an action plan) to get back on the track of development and progress. I would like to present my views for highlighting some aspects. There might be more that needs to be done to get our economy out of the current ailment.
  • The first and immediate requirement to do is reducing our Imports. You can go to a market/super-store in Pakistan and see all kinds of imported items for kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and drawing room - including building material, food items, cosmetics, electronics, autocars, even food for dogs and cats, and so on. What kind of fools and dumb nation we are? Well, it's all due to the import mafia. We need to turn all that around. Like many other developing countries, we need to tell the importers that all these items must gradually be produced in Pakistan in a few years’ time frame. Or else, the import of these items will be completely banned after, let's say, three years. People will not die if they don't use imported toothpaste, cosmetics, perfumes, etc. and their pets will not starve to death if those pets don't get imported pet food. That policy if successfully implemented would not only reduce the import volume significantly but also create new jobs in Pakistan and help increase our exports.
  • We need to get rid of mafias. A country that has all kinds of mafia including, but not limited to by any means, import mafia, sugar mafia, aata mafia, cement mafia, auto cars mafia, drug mafia, and many many more. Well, even we have a dubious and disgraceful distinction of having our general mafia too (notorious Papa Jones' Asim Saleem Bajwa, Qamar Bajwa allegedly having a worth of 13 or so billions, Faiz allegedly controlling/running the whole system by bulldozing other constitutional institutions - all being only a few of the most recent examples). IMF is doing right thing by demanding the GoP for requiring all government officials declare their assets on yearly basis.
  • We need solid efforts to increase our exports. Our industrialists are unable to reach and compete in the global export markets. Government needs to provide guidance and active support to our exporters. The trade attaché’s in our embassies abroad are useless white elephants. Government must turn our embassies into help/service centers to provide all kinds of support to our exporters.

It's disgraceful that Pakistan, even being an agriculture country, imports all kinds of agriculture items such as wheat, cotton, cooking oils, sugar, etc. A major chunk of our exports consists of textile and garments. We used to be a cotton exporting country a few decades ago (before the rise of this sugar mafia). Now we have to import cotton every year for even our own consumption. It's high time for the government to hit real hard on these sugar mafia tycoons (before the time when hungry mobs would lynch them all). Government should offer incentives to farmers for growing more cotton (needs much less irrigation water) and less sugarcanes (which require a lot more water to grow). Pakistan needs to produce its own raw cotton for it garments industry to be competitive in the international market thus increasing exports while reducing import bill.
Another route to quick increase in our exports is by pushing the CPEC projects in full swing, especially having joint ventures with Chinese companies. The Gwadar port was supposed to be functional for at least import of oil and other raw materials for China and it was expected to generate at least US$15 billion revenue for Pakistan (as import/export duties) by the year 2021-22. The downstream effects (such hoteling, workshops, employment, etc.) were considered to be additional benefits. That dream, however, did not realized.
Moreover, Chinese companies had plans to have joint ventures with Pakistani companies in seven or so special industrial/economic zones. That did not materialize either. I think Papa Jones has proved too heavy and too hard on the CPEC projects. One of the heinous crimes committed by IK was to get the CPEC projects stalled. He managed not only to achieve that goal but more harmfully he alienated Chinese too (despite Bajwa's corrective efforts behind the scene). We don't see the traditional warmth in Chinese statements any more towards Pakistan that used to be the hallmark of Pak-China relationship. Our Chinese friends probably wouldn't have been so disappointed if it was just this idiot IK. But when they saw that all that shit was installed and then actively supported by the military, they lost any hope of a good. I hope that the current government will bring a quick turnaround in Pak-China relations and revive all those projects vigorously.
  • Lack of tax collection is acting as a suffocation for our economy. We desperately need to increase the tax network. Pakistan is one of the countries having the lowest tax base. Pakistan is a country where people are rich while the state is extremely poor and mismanaged. None of the mafias is really willing to pay a penny in taxes. Like the developed countries, filing the tax return without any exception must be mandatory in Pakistan too. That way Pakistan will have tax data of every citizen. At a second stage, this data should be related to NADRA's database to tally the real income of citizens with their claimed income and paid taxes. Such a system will by and large remove the deep-rooted corruption in the FBR. When people pay taxes than they would care about the spending of their tax money too. These incompetent babus, judges, and generals would have to be accountable to people. Currently these idiots are enjoying those disproportional perks that they have out of the poor taxpayers’ money and yet keep abusing and raping this nation-state. IMF demands an increase in electricity/gas/petrol prices only because they know that our mafias are unwilling to pay taxes. So the IMF officials see no way to raise government revenue other than by increasing the prices of gas, petrol, and electricity. But increasing these prices is a like poison for the poor and our exports. Sometimes I feel that IMF and our babus are essentially a part of an unholy alliance to finish this country off.
  • Reduce non-development spending may be by 90%. All perks (cars, petrol, servants, house rent, plots, free tickets, foreign trips, etc.) of state servants (both uniformed and civilians) must be removed. Nowhere in developed countries the state servants get any of these perks. Even worse, our state servants use tax-payers money to stranglehold these very people who pay the taxes (directly or indirectly). When we didn't have enough domestic money for these perks, our babus started begging other countries/agencies for loans. Now that we have no money for these perks anymore, international agencies/countries are asking us to mend our ways. That will hopefully prove a blessing in disguise for the poor in Pakistan because those international badmaash will force our shameless badmaashia to give up some, if not all, of these perks.
  • Judiciary in any country works as a filtration system to remove ugly elements from the society. But in Pakistan judiciary is one of the ugliest reality. Our judiciary has lost its dignity and self-respect that they feel no shame at all despite their bottom position in global ranking of justice system. It is a well-known fact that many past and the current judges (especially chief justices - what a shame to call these idiots a justice; a real filthy stain on this nobel word ‘justice’) have committed crimes as cohorts with the dictators or their political masters. There are countless examples of persons seeking justice expired while waiting for it. There are currently more than a million cases waiting for decision in our higher judiciary. And yet these bloody fools are spending their days and weeks on useless political cases and then giving the decisions which are widely considered as re-writing of the law/constitution. The ordinary petitioners keep waiting for ages for justice to be delivered. I think we need to declare a judicial emergency in the country.
    • Judges of higher judiciary should not be allowed to have any breaks, vacations, trips, etc. They must work 6 days a week, 12 months a year until the justice is delivered in all pending cases.
    • Every judge must deliver justice to every case assigned to him within ninety days. A warning be issued on the first violation of this requirement. A termination letter, without the right of an appeal, must be served on the second violation of this requirement.
    • A higher level constitutional court - or whatever you call it - (with three to five members) be constituted/appointed by the parliament (via head of state - the president) to oversee the conduct of our judges. Solely for monitoring the judgments. Judicial council should continue for management related issues. This higher constitutional court will randomly pick cases which were decided by the high court and supreme court judges every month and examine the quality of the judgment, its justification in terms of law/constitution, and decide if the judgment was at par or faulty. A judge caught delivering a judgement in violation of the law/constitution will automatically be disqualified for life to work even as a practicing lawyer in future.
Remember that no investor will ever come to Pakistan without us having the rule of law in Pakistan. We shouldn't have any hope of that from our current dishonest, greedy, and incompetent judges.

When a pro-American government has no way to deal with economic problems. New elections should be held. Then take the money and go to London.

You expect the Chinese to pay you clowns $10-15 billions for the privilege for importing through Gwadar :enjoy:

Not one but a few.
I used to think this pakistani nuke stuff was something pakistanis said themselves but it seems the western world really is asking after the nukes, remember when sleepy joe with dementia slipped up about pakistan's nukes?

The FIRST thing to realize is that those imports that you mention are only a small part of the imbalance. The largest problem is energy imports, directly tied in to the exploding population.

All dreams and wishful thinking. Nothing will materialise. It is game over for Pakistan.

Bit extreme, that's not gonna happen they can use conventional methods it's easier

Nukes are required for the overall safety. It's not about government but rather the country and people itself.
No, it's spot on. NK with it's nukes bullies SK and even US to no end.

Mushy was bullied by a third rate chaprrasi from the state dept. and the former shat his pants.

Nobody dares to pass stone age threats to a nuclear power and expect unconditional surrender, but you can't expect anything less from colonial sepoys with 250 years of rich history in enslavement and compliance.

Pakistan’s nukes belong to the nation and its people. Whatever government or system Pakistanis form to rule over Pakistan will have possession of Pakistan’s nukes. No outside state will be allowed to take or destroy Pakistan’s nukes. Even if we are put in a position to give up our nukes with no other option, the people who have right to our nukes is Muslim countries especially those who aided Pakistan in getting nukes. The first right over Pakistan’s nukes is by its own citizens and they will die protecting their right. The second right is of Muslims especially those who helped us get nukes. Pakistan’s nukes rather be blown over india than it giving it up to kuffar.

Everything revolves around economy. Your standing, credibility, clout, prowess etc. Pakistani elites had destroyed the economy decades ago. Finally a leader like Imran Khan came and tried to restore some sanity. Far from perfect, but at least he had a narrative and positive effect. We witnessed how Pakistan could make some progress. They couldn't handle it and removed him. It just took 10 months for these illiterate morons to completely destroy the economy.

Don't be too sure about that. The Pakistani army is capable of much harm.

Remember that no investor will ever come to Pakistan without us having the rule of law in Pakistan. We shouldn't have any hope of that from our current dishonest, greedy, and incompetent judges.

One problem I have with Pakistani thinking is missing the bigger picture. Lessening the imports will not do you any good with an ever-increasing population that needs to be fed and moved around that needs energy. You need to re-evaluate your economic structure and sectors to start producing what you and the world need; there is ample manpower.

The Pakistan solution you are presenting is a man who loses income, cuts his groceries, and travels less with his vehicle. The problem you'll have is a person with no energy and no gas to search for work. So don't drop your standard; instead, go and search for greener pastures, and for once, cut the grass.

If that tragedy were to befall, I think Pakistan military has enough sense to destroy the nukes before Taliban takes over. I am sure there will be a lot of support in Congress to ensure that any such consequence will be orderly. Besides USSR, South Africa, Brazil and Libya went through such changes.

Doubtful lol

Agreed, there isn't a centrifugal force strong enough to cause break up/civil war. What may happen although, in times of great national crises. a charismatic leader like Ayatollah Khomeini or Osama Bin Laden may be born who will promise some extreme new ideology is the path out of the current misery. If he succeeds, there may be new political turbulence as in Iran or Afghanistan.
Well that still resides in "likely" space and that space can apply to any country.
So far nothing to be seen. The redicalization card is played to its end. Even Sufis are reducalized with TLP. Still the general Masses dont get attracted to them they way some people believe.
Why we see so many morons is because there are so many friggin people in every big city. I bet wave nazi flag in middle of lahore karachi or faisalabad and you will get several thousand people standing down it who have absolutely no idea what nazim is.
