ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has refuted reports that it was deploying its troops in Qatar in the wake of the oil-rich country’s current standoff with other Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia.

A statement issued by the Foreign Office on Sunday described the reports that appeared in some foreign media outlets about the deployment of Pakistan army in Qatar as “completely fabricated and baseless”.

“These false reports appear to be part of a malicious campaign aimed at creating misunderstanding between Pakistan and brotherly Muslim countries in the Gulf,” Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakria said.

PM expected to fly to Qatar, Kuwait to help resolve Gulf crisis

Last week, Saudi Arabia along with several Gulf states severed diplomatic ties with Qatar after accusing it of supporting terrorist groups.

While Gulf countries vowed to isolate Qatar, Turkey decided to side with the oil rich state by deploying troops there. Some foreign media organisations reported that Pakistan would also follow Turkey’s suit and deploy around 20,000 troops in Qatar.

The brewing crisis in the Middle East has put Pakistan in an awkward situation as Islamabad enjoys close ties both with Riyadh and Doha.

Besides strong political ties, Pakistan has close economic cooperation with Gulf countries that are also home to millions of Pakistanis who significantly contribute to the country’s economy in the form of foreign remittances.

NA condemns Iran attack, urges Pak role over Gulf crisis

At the last weekly briefing, when asked to explain Pakistan’s stance on the current unrest in the Gulf nations, the foreign office spokesperson said Pakistan was increasingly concerned over the development.

“Pakistan believes in unity among Muslim countries. We have made consistent efforts for its promotion. The situation, therefore, is a matter of concern,” said Zakria while suggesting that the government would not take sides in a conflict that can have huge implications for the country.

Officials said that the government is making efforts to play some kind of a role to defuse the crises between Qatar and other neighbouring countries.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to undertake a visit to Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia as part of Pakistan’s diplomatic manoeuvers to break the stalemate.

Saudi and Bahrain welcome Trump’s scolding of Qatar

It is, however, not clear if Saudi Arabia is willing to reconcile and accept any mediation at this stage. The oil-rich kingdom has so far given a lukewarm response to efforts by Kuwait to mediate between Riyadh and Doha.

The evolving situation in the Mideast has added another dimension to already difficult situation Pakistan is facing when it comes to the Saudi-led counter-terrorism alliance.

Policymakers in Pakistan fear that if the situation worsens it would further compound the foreign policy challenges for the country.

“Therefore, we are concentrating on mediation,” commented a senior Foreign Office official while requesting anonymity.

. . .
The root cause for all Arab world problem is their ideology. The era of Kingdoms have long gone in the civil world. Every Muslim countries blame the west & US for the chaos & violence in their region, but don't want to acknowledge these royal families & dictators are the real culprits who throw money to the leaders of the west to show their muscle to others.

America is only used as a muscle flexing display by these Middle Eastern powers especially the Saudis, so as to get license to its terror financing & policies to bring other countries under their ideology or banner. I can without second thoughts tell, all these chaos in Middle East will end, the day America take the side of Iran.

The only sad thing is the Sunni countries are many in numbers & have more money power than Iran. In fact if interference of Saudis is not there, Iraq & Syria will become stable & it will strengthen Iran, which they don't want. Everybody knows this, but all put the blame on US. America is paid to play its role. If the entire muslim world come together to oppose the Saudis, (which the muslim countries don't have spine to do, because they are also paid by these Saudis & its allies) this chaos will end.

If Iran had the money to buy the west, Saudis would be long finished. Saudis may try to go to Russia, but Russia doesn't hold the money & influence like America, to stop a collapse of its proxy allies. This is why India holds a strong influence & bond with many countries including Iran, because India doesn't play dirty politics or proxies to display power. It has always served any country's friendship truly, to show that it's not only trade, but also making a trustworthy ally who wishes for the security & growth of its partners. India used its influence to almost convince & broker a power shift of America to Iran under Obama. It was evident when he declared to do the Nuclear deal with Iran.

We did our part in-spite of repercussions from a sensitive Israel who are even more closer to India than Iran. Even in the earlier days when the world looked at us like a 3rd world country, we bought Iran's oil, when the whole west put sanctions on Iran. That shows we are a country of principles & relationship, not taking dictations from America. You can see the same policies of India against Russia today. We do trade but also build & value relationship. It should not be used for blackmails like Putin. Then you are selfish & become unreliable

The Saudis started to panic the nuclear deal of Iran, since it would be a nightmare to all its policies & the dictatorial power it holds with many client countries (Pakistan included - sorry to say but truth). Pakistan rejecting to take part in their Syria/Yemen war hurt the ego of the Arabs. They wanted to show where Pakistan stands by denying visas & deporting many Pakistani workers, followed by the lashing of the cartoon Zaid Hamid, which was an insult to Pakistan, a so called patriotic diplomat who frequently people see on media (good or bad) is made a gunea pig for Saudi's wrath. No political or Military power of Pakistan could use their influence to get him released. It showed the status of Paksitan's power or influence with the Arabs, which Pak used to beat the drums as brother nations. What a shame.

To add insult to injury they awarded PM Modi with the highest civilian award by Saudis followed by UAE announcing 75 Billion $ investment in India along with signing a oil storage pact & Sheikh Mohd bin Zayed attending Indian Republic Day parade. India never has to do anything, but Pakistan suffers because, it's policies is India centric. Everything comes in our favor against Pakistan, because we are focused on building our country as a regional & strategic power. Even America & the west tilted to India, because they were starting to feel the threat of China. We have never done buttering like Pakistan, but yes we have never back stabbed or taken thrown money to do unwanted acts by taking sided. Always we have pushed for trade & FDI. That's reason India has grown & has lot of friends in the world.

This is the truth. Pakistan has to just drop this obsession of religion & defeating India & focus on their first basic foundation - which is building strong brotherly relation with India to get out of all this brain washed religious hatred of Hindus & Indians. This will bring peace & normalcy in the region. And I again repeat, that's the only way Pakistan can survive & bring peace in the region. You like always can get this post deleted or report to get me banned, but ask your heart with a biased mind. Do your own analysis keeping religion out & you will realize I am telling the truth - a ray of hope & opportunity for Pakistan. Good luck

Looks like Raheel sharif's leadership of Islamic Military Alliance has prevailed and was able to convince Pakistan in issuing an explicit assurance to the Saudis that Pakistani troops would not be deployed in Qatar.

Pakistan should keep itself out of this conflict. Iran and Saudi Arabia are never going to resolve their conflict in an amicable fashion. Anyone who becomes party will bleed. We have bled enough.

.
Wow, that was the crappiest and the most ridiculous rumour spread by the enemies of Pakistan.

Pakistan will stay neutral in this crisis and either it will try to bring all the parties to the dialogue table or if that fails, Pakistan will not pick a side and let them decide themselves.

After all Pakistan is not a part of GCC.

Stop any deployment of troops anywhere in Middle East, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi etc. When will you people learn to distance yourselves from Arabs?
Hey!!! false flaggers don't last long here...just saying!!!

Identifying & arresting of those who are spreading false news to create unwanted disturbance should be arrested as soon as possible. It is also very important to find out why such news are been spread & what is the purpose for doing so.

When you stop begging to get identities from whites who regularly bomb your brothers

So why is Turkey planning to deploy troops in Qatar?

Why did Pakistan ruled out sending troops to Qatar but did not rule out sending troops to Saudi? Is it that Pakistan would send the troops to Saudi with the excuse to safeguard the holy sites? Do world really believe that Turkey and/or Iran who are Muslims themselves would destroy the holy cities?

Correct me if Im wrong, but didn't India at one time refuse to pay for the Iranian oil it had received because US told India not to pay?
