i would say even if pakistan sticks to zardari and gilani for long term they will somehow bring pak back on high growth path. but u know old pakistani habit. they r never satisfied with govt, u will throw them out, riots will happen, ppl will be shot. then nxt govt will come. another term wasted haling the wounds of past.

Any country that follows a religious model is never going to succeed, religion has to be separated from matters of statecraft and economy.

Reason for failure of religion, all were written over a century ago.

Proof: All the successful state vs. Religiously dominated states in middle east.

I too don't like to see religious dominated states, however, i think you forgot Hitler's Nazi Germany, who were cutter atheists....

whoever comes in Pakistan the situation will not change unless the war in Afghanistan does not end. What pakistan needs is a whole lot of foreign investments and fixing on her infrastructure and to sort out her energy crisis, that is the only way it will excel. Right now no one wants to invest in pakistan due to her instability.

But in order for all of the above to happen Pakistan needs a very capable, honest, experienced, nationalist leadership.

What about Zia's Islamazation of Pakistan which went pretty bad ? you know pakistan's economy grew when zia was in power however he destroyed pakistan socially.

US will only leave Afghanistan when she will feel like it. I see since the post invasion of afg there has been a systematic rise in pakistani nationalism, be careful of it. Strong Pakistani nationalism will invoke anti American sentiments.....i already see a strong anti american sentiment in pakistan. I believe the main aim for us is to denuclearize pakistan. I was watching the daily show the other day and john stewat brings a journalist and he asks him "which is the mostdangerous country you have ever visited?" he replies "pakistan", so yes the usa has already started a media campaign in her country against pakistan. Pakistan has also come in the us media a lot lately for the wrong reasons. I'd be very scared if i were a pak.
