Hussaini promoted as Rear Admiral

Commodore Syed Arifullah Hussaini SI(M), T Bt has been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect.

Rear Admiral Hussain had joined Pakistan Navy (PN) in June 1981. He had qualified the Surface Warfare Operation Course from USA and National Defence Course from China. The Admiral is a graduate of National Defence University.

He has held various command and staff appointments on operational sea billets.

He has commanded PNS Zulfiquar and PNS Tariq. The Rear Admiral has served as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Plans & FP) and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Personnel).

He is currently appointed as Commander AUXMIN. He is recipient of Stara-e-Imtiaz

(Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat.

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (APP): Commodore Syed Bashir Ahmad SI(M) and Commodore Waseem Akram SI(M) have been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect, Pakistan Navy said in a Press release issued here on Monday.



Rear Admiral Syed Bashir Ahmad SI(M) was commissioned in Pakistan Navy in Dec 1982. He is a submariner and specialist in underwater warfare. The officer has qualified PN Staff Course in 1995 and has done Armed Forces War course from national Defence University, Islamabad in 2004. He is MSc in War Studies.
The Rear Admiral has held various important operations and staff appointments during his 28 years commissioned service. Important field assignments include Fleet Submarine Officer, Commanding Officer of PN Submarine SHUSHUK and commander Chief of Naval Staff (Operations & Plans) at Naval Headquarters. Presently he is performing the duties of Commander PN War College.
The Rear Admiral is married and has a son and two daughters.
Rear Admiral Waseem Akram Si(M) was born in March 1962 at Lahore. He joined Pakistan Navy in 1978 and was commissioned in Ops Branch in 1982. He joined Pakistan Naval Aviation in 1987. During his illustrious career, the officer has served onboard ships and Aviation units in various capacities.
His important appointments in Naval Aviation include Base Operations Officer, Staff Operations Officer to commander Naval Aviation, Commanding Officer naval Aviation Training School and Commanding Officer Seaking Squadron. While at sea, his important appointments EXO PNS MARDAN, Navigating Officer PNS SARHAD, Underwater Warfare Officer of 25th Destroyer Squadron and Executive Officer of Type-21 Ship. He has also been Defence Attache to Pakistan at Oman,from 2004 to 2006.
The Officer is a graduate of Pakistan Naval Academy, PN Staff College, Turkish Staff College and Pakistan National Defence University. He holds degrees of BSc (Hons) in Naval Science, BSc (Hons) in War Studies and MSc in Defence & Strategic Studies.
Commodore Waseem was appointed as Commander of Auxiliary and Mine Warfare Squadron in 2007. After completing his command in 2008, the officer assumed the duties of Director General Naval Intelligence, the position the continues to hold till todate.
The Officer is married and has two sons.

Vice Admiral Abbas takes over command of Navel Fleet

KARACHI : Vice Admiral Abbas Raza has taken over as Commander Pakistan Fleet on Monday. In capacity of Fleet Commander, he would exercise full operational control over all Fleet Units comprising Destroyers, Submarines, Missile Boats and Naval Air Arm besides other supporting establishments.

Vice Admiral Abbas Raza joined Pakistan Navy in 1973 and was commissioned in the Operations Branch. He has served on various Command and Staff appointments including Deputy Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy, Commanding Officer of two Type-21 Frigates, Commander Auxiliary and Mine Warfare Squadron, Principal Secretary to Chief of the Naval Staff, Naval Attache in France, Director General Joint Warfare and Training and Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Projects). Before assuming the charge of Commander Pakistan Fleet, the Admiral was serving as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations).

Vice Admiral Abbas Raza has specialized in Naval Communications. He did his Staff Course from Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich, UK, and National Defence Course from National Defence University Islamabad. In recognition to his meritorious services, the admiral has been decorated with Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military).

The change of command ceremony was held at Pakistan Navy Dockyard this morning where the outgoing Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Tanveer Faiz formally handed over the command to the newly appointed Fleet Commander.

On arrival at the venue, Vice Admiral Abbas Raza was presented guard of honour and introduced to the officers of his Command. The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior naval officers, officers and sailors.

Rear Admiral Sayyid Khawar promoted to vice admiral

ISLAMABAD: Rear Admiral Sayyid Khawar Ali has been promoted to the rank of vice admiral on Wednesday.

According to Naval headquarters spokesman, Vice Admiral Sayyid Khawar Ali joined Pakistan Navy in 1972 in the operations branch. Vice Admiral Sayyid Khawar Ali has experience of various command and staff appointments. His major appointments include commander air at PNS Mehran Karachi, assistant chief of naval staff (plans), naval secretary, commander naval aviation, director general joint warfare and training at the Joint Staff HQ and commander Karachi. Presently, the flag officer is serving as deputy chief of naval staff (training and evaluation) at Naval Headquarters Islamabad.

He is qualified principal warfare officer from the UK and tactical coordinator from France. He is a graduate of armed forces war course and holds MBA from IBA and MAs from Deakin University Australia and Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad. In recognition of his meritorious services he has been awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military). staff report
