The Pakistan Navy (PN) and the Pakistani Embassy in Oman hosted an event on Monday at Port Sultan Qaboos, near the berthed PN’s submarine Khalid and its multipurpose auxiliary craft Jurrat, to mark the conclusion of their goodwill visit.

Commodore Ahmed Saeed, mission commander of the visiting flotilla, which departed on Tuesday morning, thanked H H Sayyid Mohammed bin Salim al Said, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H E Nawabzada Aminullah Khan Raisani, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman, Commodore Mahfoudh Hamoud al Wahaibi of the Royal Oman Navy, as well as diplomats and guests for attending the event.

Commodore Saeed said that seafarers play a key role in strengthening the bonds of friendship between nations through goodwill visits. “That's why they're regarded as true ambassadors. In this respect, our in progress visit to Oman was aimed at enhancing awareness of each other’s capabilities and exploring new vistas of bilateral cooperation.”

He said that promoting peace and harmony at sea is in the collective interest of the world community and as a responsible maritime state, Pakistan's efforts in this regard have always been appreciated by the world. “PN has been one of the leading navies in the region, and it is participating in international efforts with exemplary commitment. With its coalition partners, PN has been conducting maritime security operations, including those to counter terrorism and piracy operations in the North Arabian Sea, Sea of Oman, Gulf of Aden and parts of the Somalian coast to make this region safe for all seafarers.”

Commodore Saeed said that Oman is an important regional maritime nation and PN maintains very cordial relations with the Omani navy in all facets of maritime affairs.

“I'm very confident in pronouncing that this visit will act like a catalyst in further strengthening bonds of friendship between the two navies and the two nations,” he said.
