Pakistan Navy Exercise Seaspark -2018 Begins

In the backdrop of ongoing major Maritime Exercise SEASPARK 2018,
Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi witnessed the wide ranging naval maneuvers by an array of naval combat platforms in North Arabian Sea which was aimed to showcase the combat readiness of Pakistan Navy.

Upon his arrival onboard Pakistan Navy Ship at North Arabian Sea off Ormara,Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi was received by Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi.Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), Rear Admiral Faisal Rasool Lodhi was also present.

Chief of the Naval Staff was given detailed briefings on conduct of the exercise and deployment of PN assets out at sea including ships, submarines, aircraft, UAVs, Special Forces and Pak Marines along with elements of PMSA and PAF.Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi expressed utmost satisfaction and confidence in the operational capabilities of Pakistan Navy and urged that the prevalent challenges necessitate eternal vigilance and readiness to safeguard the national maritime interests against external and internal threats. The Naval Chief also interacted with the crew of the Ships and lauded their professionalism and dedication while performing the sacred duties of defending maritime frontiers of the Motherland.

Later, during the day Chief of the Naval Staff also attended operational briefings of Force Commanders at PNS BAHADUR to review and validate their deployment/ war plans.

Exercise SEASPARK 2018 will amply afford valuable opportunity to enhance combat readiness of Pakistan Navy and interoperability with sister services as well. Besides enhancement of operational preparedness, the exercise will also focus on seaward defence of the coast and response against emerging non-traditional threats emanating from sea including maritime component of CPEC and GWADAR Port.

Pakistan Navy is combat ready multi-dimensional force and fully committed to protect national maritime interests at all costs during peace and war. The exercise SEASPARK 2018 would therefore provide impetus to Pakistan’s resolve of maintaining peace, security and lawful order at sea.

Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Chief of the Naval Staff visited forward posts of Pak Marines along Sir Creek to review the Pak Marines formations during Major Maritime Exercise SEASPARK 2018.

Upon Arrival at different posts in the Creeks area, Chief of the Naval Staff was received by Commander Coast, Rear Admiral Moazzam ilyas and Commander Karachi Rear Admiral, Asif Khaliq.

Comprehensive briefings were given to Chief of the Naval Staff about the troops deployed for the defence of Creeks Area which constitutes South Eastern maritime boundary of Pakistan. Chief of the Naval Staff also inspected the forward locations and appreciated the alertness, commitment and readiness of deployed troops. He directed to ensure optimal utilization of latest weaponry/ equipment with motivation and alacrity in order to safeguard maritime boundaries of Pakistan. Chief of the Naval Staff commended officers and men for maintaining high morale, courage and spirit of sacrifice to defend frontiers of the country.

While interacting with troops, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi expressed great satisfaction on the operational readiness and lauded their level of motivation and determination to safeguard maritime frontiers of the country at critical area under harsh topographic environment comprising marshes, swamps and unpredictable waterways. Rear Admiral, Faisal Rasul Lodhi, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) was also present on the occasion.

Earlier, Chief of the Naval Staff also visited Joint Maritime Information & Coordination Centre (JMICC) at Manora, Karachi. The Naval Chief was given detailed briefings on the operational aspects in the presence of other maritime stakeholders. JMICC has been established by the Pakistan Navy to harmonize the efforts of all maritime stakeholders through timely gathering and sharing of information to effectively safeguard maritime interests of Pakistan.

Concluding Session Of Maritime Exercise SEASPARK 2018 Held

A concluding session of the recently conducted Pakistan Navy's major maritime exercise SEASPARK 2018 was held here on Monday.

Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi was the chief guest on the occasion, a press release of Pakistan Navy (PN) said.

The exercise conducted in North Arabian Sea involved all PN units including, ships, submarines and aircraft along with Special Forces and Marines. Additionally, PMSA, PAF and Pak Army Air Defence elements also participated in the exercise.

The event was attended by a large number of high ranking officers from the three services including reps from various ministries. Rear Admiral Faisal Rasul Lodhi, Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Operations) presented an overview of the exercise. Subsequently, an exhaustive de-brief of the exercise was held in which all aspects were discussed to draw pertinent lessons from the conduct of exercise.

Contemporary geostrategic environment necessitates adroit response by PN in peace and war. In this context, the exercise was aimed to assess the combat readiness and operational preparedness of Pakistan Navy to meet the entire spectrum of National Security Challenges, in the Maritime Domains Another objective was to validate and consolidate various operational concepts.

The exercise also afforded valuable opportunity to harness professional combat skills of PN units to achieve synergy effects.

Chief of the Naval Staff, in his concluding remarks, said that the contemporary challenges having the dimensions of hybrid warfare entail sharp vigilance and constant review of PN operational plans through extensive war gaming and brainstorming. He expressed utmost satisfaction on combat readiness of Pak Navy to cope with all external and internal challenges.

He appreciated the professionalism displayed during the exercise and expressed satisfaction on the overall conduct of the exercise. In the end, he urged all to regard this concluding session as a start to the follow-up proceedings which should lead to comprehensivereview of PN operational plans by all commands.
