Pakistan military is slowly bleeding America to death in Afghanistan: Former US Army Colonel 26 Aug,

.
US bleeding itself to Afghanistan by not listening to Pakistan Army.

The core problem with US policy in Afghanistan is the Afghans themselves. They are incapable of rule, incompetent in military operations, and corrupt to the bone. US has spent billions on attempts to build the capacity of the ANA only to see their soldiers surrender to the Taliban and sell their weapons to whoever wants to buy them. You only read the conclusion of the SIGAR reports confirms all this yet US persists in pursuing victory in Afghanistan, whatever that means.

In essence, the Afghans are a waste of time, money, and breath. They should be left to their own devices.

Trump realizes that Afghanistan is a lost cause and is looking for a way out. He wants to declare victory somehow and for him, it's bringing Taliban to the negotiating table and hammer out an agreement so the US can leave with honor.
That makes a lot of sense but what does india want from Afghanistan?

Dont chicken out. I made no claims. I just gave you the year R&AW was setup post 1965. You talked about how India did a, b & c even before R&AW was setup. Give me a link to prove your claims or STFU.
Take a break , you are a guest on our forum and will be reminded of your pitiful existence everytime you lose civility.
RAW being setup is irrelevant to when Indian contacts began.

@Oscar

Your assumptions are that the US will stick to the current dispensation in Kabul. It will not take much time for a policy change, gradual though it may be to see. Since the 1990s to today to another 15 years from now, the Taliban could be God's best soldiers again. Do you think the Durand Line will be agreed by the Taliban as the border?

The current chap who is the advisor to the US has been a consultant and advisor to the oil companies before. If they see merit, would they bring the Taliban with a power sharing agreement and spoils of war? The row with Iran created by the current US President may not continue into the next administration. Then what?

How will Russia react, once the sanctions are lifted by the next US administration and trade with Europe starts again? Putin will do business.

It's a transactional world. Would Pakistan be benefited if it spoke with the current regime and get out of the relationship with the Taliban? If yes, why not? But it has to do it for its needs. Not for the needs of some other country. If it requires it to re-engage with the Taliban later, do it. But for your needs. Other countries will look out for themselves.

Agreed that the Taliban too are unpredictable. They have acted against Pakistan in many ways including trying to force donation of fighter aircraft by hijacking a bus.

Access to Central Asia and beyond.
Same with Pakistan.
Often heard here on the analysis vine is that the goal now(and from a long time with the deep state) is to become the transit hub for Central and South Asia.

Where there is talk of getting the strategic “height” and water resources for Kashmir, it is accented by talks of becoming the “gateway to India” - which will sound ironic to Indians but it is what it is.
To change @Indus Pakistan ‘s assertion of the succesor civilization to the IVC which I dont agree with; the goal may be construed to become the natural course this land has had for eons:
Be the gateway and route.

Bring your trade through , have your meal and rest, shop and be on your way.

What Dubai has achieved to some extent on a micro scale, Pakistan’s goal should be on a macro scale. While such ideals are popular in intellectual incubators, explaining this to someone with zero education and exposure along with their various frustrations in life compounded by their low level understanding of life itself.. is difficult.
We have 290 million of those, India has around a billion of those.

Good luck to all, peace out.
