Dude, what you know of gliders? It can easily fly if it has enough thrust. Might wanna do some research on the first generation of aeroplanes, specially the ones used in world war I.

Can't say if its worth it or not, let's think of it in another way we know boxing is one sport like any other contact sport where there is a huge risk of damage to the body and CNS but still they do it, if I ask them is it worth the risk they will definitely say yes. I used to do contact sports won many championships but during one event injured my backbone in way that I would never be able to play that sports again, if you ask me was it worth it I would say yes every moment of it. for that guy it was worth it.

I simply admire the guy because he comes from such humble background, belongs to backward town compared to us the urban populace, yet had the ambition of making a flying machine all by himself despite understanding that aerodynamics, the intricacies of navigation and actual complex physics calculations. He took even a bigger risk by borrowing from a microfinance bank and yes he did succeed. I think he should be encouraged and may be even groomed to work on such projects may be create a crop dusting craft.

definitely an enthuisast; an ultralight at work. i doubt it will fly given center of gravity issue i can see right away plus choice of materials.

i think such people should not be allowed to fly these types of planes of older times,he will eventually crash this plane and lose life of himself and others.Building airplane requires very sophisticated knowledge obtained by engineers through studying hard and practical experience for decades which this illiterate popcon seller not possess and he is wasting his money .If he has so much desire of building plane he should spend this money to provide his children with quality education so they become capable of building high tech planes of modern days instead of wasting money on this old rejected technology which has no worth in modern world.He is living in his 100yrs old world with no awareness of the position world has reached

I think, I understand the point you're trying to make but the greatest of discoveries were possible due to people following their passions. Despite his limitations, he knows his goal and it is very admirable how he went about achieving it, this sort of behaviour should be encouraged. I sincerely hope the proper authorities do help him.

Craftsmanship is its own reward, if his knowledge and skills are polished he can fly whenever he wants to and the interest among younger minds such an endeavour generates will be incalculable.

From the few videos I have seen, the ultralight does not look structurally sound. If the government gives him permission... I hope someone from the Civil Aviation Authority can take a look at it before he tries again.

The gentleman definitely has passion.

very talented man but....uhm, the plane doesn't look very safe. I think PAF engineers should take a close look to make sure that it is safe and God forbid, it fails, there is proper ejection mechanism in place...
