Pakistan has reportedly sent an army combat unit to Yemen to join the war against the Shia fighters in the country's north.

An informed source with the Pakistani daily Jang has said that a 300-strong unit of Special Forces has been deployed in Yemen.

US media reports say the US military and intelligence agencies are involved in joint operations with Yemeni troops.

Yemen launched a military offensive against the Houthi fighters in the northern Sa'ada Province last August. Saudi Arabia joined forces with the Yemeni government in November.

Sana'a accuses the Shia fighters of violating terms of a ceasefire in 2009 by taking foreign visitors hostage.

The Houthis accuse the Yemeni government of violating their civil rights and marginalizing them politically, economically, and religiously.

The Shia fighters say the offensives launched against the northern regions mostly target residential areas and result in civilian casualties.

Islamabad's controversial decision is expected to cause public outrage in a country, which is similarly targeted by indiscriminate missile attacks.

The Pakistani public holds regular demonstrations to condemn Washington's drone attacks on remote tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.

The US claims that the attacks are aimed at eliminating militant positions. However, they usually result in civilian casualties.

Another interesting bit of news. Jang has reported that Pakistan has deployed a 300-strong team of its Special Forces personnel in Yemen to join the war being fought there against Houthi fighters in the northern Sa'ada Province. Yemen launched an operated against the Shia Houthi fighters last August and its forces were joined by forces sent by Saudi Arabia in November. The Houthis accuse the Yemeni government of violating their civil rights and marginalising them politically and socially. The Yemeni government accuses the Houthi fighters of violating a 2009 ceasefire.

While the people and government of Pakistan continually lament the fact that US drone attacks on our soil violate international law and human rights, isn't it heart-warming that our armed forced are doing something similar to brother Muslims in Yemen?

Can you prove this before passing judgments on our ummah stance? Its the same Jang which all of you Indians feverishly dump on all the time. Amazing opportunism!

Opportunism ?

Merely reproducing parts of Pk media - diff sources, and asking a Q... and where is the judgment ?

Only a Q.

PA needs the SSG itself in numbers in its own WoT and 300 is a strong force, which can do very important tasks in its own tribal areas.

The newspaper or writer most probably confused the SSG deployed in KSA to be deployed in Yemen. Recent performance of Saudi Forces in clashes with Yemeni rebels may have triggered the SSG guys as trainers or advisers working with Saudi Forces to sharpen their skills as its mostly a COIN operation against the Yemeni AQ guys and experience of SSG will come handy for the KSA forces to combat the rebels.

Firstly how do you know if I am a Hindu , muslim , sikh or christian ?

Next, the ' hindu from India' is merely reproducing what is available on the net & in Pak newspapers.. and is asking a question. It appears a raw nerve has been touched ... what ?

.
Such emotional and misguiding statements about ISLAMIC STATE OF PAKISTANs armed forces made by someone from india can only be made by a hindu or a guy who wants to hurt the feeling of Pakistanis and create a sence of hatred towards PAK ARMY.Plus most of the indians on PDF are hindu. And the total number of muslims in ind army is no more then 2%.

.
Give this yarn to the authors of the articles reproduced in post Numbers 2 & 3 and spare me the **.

Talk of shooting the messenger...and being presumptuous.

... and how does one know that most Indians on PDF are hindu ? Wow !

The judgment is in the insinuation here:

"No probs with the Ummah here ?"

There is no insinuation, it was merely a Q , which remains unanswered.

The judgment (& presumption) is ' the hindu from India'..., 'most Indians on PDF are hindus"..etc

All that is being done is that news available on the net is being reproduced. Can't see the fuss.

My question remains and is linked to the oft repeated issue of Ummah and universal brotherhood among Muslims the world over etc. How an attack on one muslim nation tantamounts to that on the Muslim world.

..and I have repeatedly asked this Q on this forum as to how does one see Saddam attacking Kuwait, Iran & Iraq feuding for 8 years and so on.

The author in post no 2 has raised a valid point on how drone attacks are perceived to be wrong then how would sending the SSG or whoever to Yemen be seen.

Personally, I dont think it is wrong for a nation to send its troops overseas both to help a another or to project itself.

While this is definitely a rumour that some are working over time to spread, it is untrue. As I have earlier indicated in the thread, I did speak to a well placed and (to me) highly trustworthy officer in the PA who was quite clear in dismissing this.

Pakistan's stance on the issue of maintaining neutrality in conflicts involving muslims has been long standing. If you remember, Pakistan never sent its soldiers in an offensive role even when Saudi Arabia was supposedly threatened by Iraq. Despite the fact that there was no love lost between us and the Baath government in Iraq! We only sent soldiers for mine clearing operations as a token gesture. They never fired a shot against anyone. The only incidents (other than those involving Israel) where Pakistani soldiers based in the ME have participated are a) arresting the violence against King Hussein's government in Jordan, where Pakistan troops were deputed and assisted Jordanian security forces and b) when the Haram was threatened by extremists in Saudi Arabia, deputed Pakistani soldiers took part in the action.

This news is fanciful propaganda.

third eye, get your concept cleared up about Ummah and then talk plzzzz.

Iraq invaded Kuwait, so shouldn't the other Muslim countries not have helped Kuwait based on this Ummah thing and let Iraq be the occupier, knowing its record of tyranny & barbarism ?? If Muslim Ummah hadn't helped then guys like you would have said that hey see this Ummah sides by a tyrant who occupied another tiny country and killing its people, so this whole Ummah is evil as they side by a tyrant and a killer.

So if any Muslims country faces threat to its existence from internal or external forces, then it becomes a duty of the other Muslim countries in the Ummah, to help it out, even if it gets threatened by own Muslims on a wrong path.

So if SSG (which i doubt) has been deployed in Yemen, you guys don't need to start jumping and bring in the typical mindset of Ummah thing, if Yemen faces threat from some misguided or whatever kind of people, other Muslim countries obligation is to help it out.

Islam clearly says, that if even a Muslim tries to spread a Fitna in the land, he/she is liable to be killed.

Several examples in history are there to be seen.
