The headline says Pakistan got and the text says Pakistan is fighting the case. Pakistan does not have Basmati tag , its still attempting to get it.
Good luck, though I think its all water under the bridge.

. . . .
In US, they got uncle Ben Basmati rice, they were good but I forgot to see where they were from. Hopefully, Pakistan also enters US markets.

It is not new for us that Indians and their media both are incorrigible. Here you go, this is a prescription for highly affected burns areas, and if this is not effective, we suggest you use Burnol.

"I am glad to inform that Pakistan has registered Basmati Rice as Geographical Indication (GI) under Geographical Indications Act 2020. Under this Act, a GI registry has been formed which will register GIs and maintain the basic record of proprietors & authorised users of GI. 1/2"

That is in Pakistan under Pakistans internal law.

Its like India registering the f16 as a Indian plane in India. :woot:

This is NOT a International or EU registration. No one is stopping Pakistan calling its rice Basmati in Pakistan if it wants to.

It can register it as Intergalactic super duper magic Basmati if it wants to in Pakistan, under its internal law. No one will stop you.

Yeah it seems you didn't understand the situation

Pakistan is fighting to defeat India's bid to get Basmati Rice registered as its own product in the EU and as such to strengthen their case the govt has made it a part of their recognized Property under the local GI act

The GI tag that the tweet mentions is just a local designation and only exists to increase Pakistan's chances of winning in intl court , Because how do you claim an international Geographical Indicator for a product when your own country doesn't have such a designation . India, on the other hand, enacted GI legislation in 1999 and by 2003 it came into effect.

The EU hasn't actually given out any GI or IP tags on Basmati Rice as of yet and the case is still ongoing .

India ,Pak,Nepal etc can give whatever local designations and tags they want but the real prize is the protection and opportunties the EU tag comes with and that's still not been given .
