What's new

Pakistan is testing a new monster piece of mobile artillery next to the Indian border.

Sweden is very restrictive in who is allowed to buy arms.
A judgement is made on a variety of issues regarding the country like stability of democracy.
Trustworthyness is another.
The shipment of the US stealth helicopter parts to China speaks against any exports.

So far, Pakistan is pretty low on the list, while a country like Indonesia would get approval.

Pakistan has been allowed to buy lower category equipment like EriEye.

really... you are going to bring out the moral compass......

at least be honest, its all about money, every one knows what india has been doing in Kashmir, hell modi was declared terrorist in america until he become the PM....

the only reason why sweden will not sell to pakistan is to keep india happy......

hypocrisy has no bonds...i consider sweden as one of those nations, i am not saying they did wrong decisions, it was in their interest but to brag about having the right moral compass is nothing but hypocrisy, even the Americans dont do that

who sold weapons to nazis in world war 2

Bhai Sweden is dying to sell us arms. We are already using Bofors Missiles, EW planes and sooo many other things.

Open another thread if You want to discuss which airplanes Pakistan wants,
but is not allowed to buy.
No need ... let me just resolve this here. PAF was never seriously interested in gripen; it may have evaluated or considered but never seriously pursued. Not that its not a good plane, but it makes no sense when 1) PAF already has F16s and was allowed to procure more after becomming a major non nato ally of US after 9/11 and 2) has another single engine platform named JF-17 available in numbers without any restrictions, and it surpassing its original envisioned performance goals. So there you have it: an airforce that got F16s and another indigenous single engined fighter jet program like JF17, has no place for another single engined light weight fighter jet such as gripen - which is also powered by a US engine any way. The only other single engined fighters PAF was truly interested in were mirages ( for strike) and at one point the J10s... we all know what happened there.

Erieye is no low level defensive system. TTP terrorists, backed by India, didnt bother attacking F16s (which are actually used to bomb them) but they targeted the erieye - always wondered why they did that ? Without them PAF doesnt stand a chance agaisnt IAF with Phalcons. AEWCS/ AWAC are massive force multipliers for an AF in South Asia region; it is something that even US wont release us - even though they did F16s - but the Swedish did at a time when a military dictator was ruling Pakistan :enjoy:

So no sour grapes buddy ... what ever is worth buying and afordable/feasible from Sweden, Pakistan has it.
And Good luck with your make in India venture - you folks need it - Rafale, SU30, and local LCA are going to be be tough to beat.

Regards

People please ignore the swede and not derail the thread!

For the time being with the situation economically I think we will have to wait longer.

funny how this guy brings up soar grapes and moral compass all the time, when infact i am pretty sure gripen was available back as was SAAB AWACs and was considered only as f-16s were not available and thunder was no where in production for coming 8-10 years

with massive upgrades of 32 f-16s we have and increasing the number to more than double(to 77) there was no need for gripen any more and no point too, even today f-16s newer versions are available

the only reason some western companies wount sell is bigger Indian market not some moral compass..

i mean selling to nazis means something..lol
