The Ministry of External Affairs has said it has ample evidence to show Pakistani involvement in the Pathankot attack.
This comes a day after the Director General of the National Investigative Agency Sharad Kumar said that neither the Pakistani government nor any Pakistani government agency played a role in the January air-base attack.
The Ministry of External Affairs, in response to the NIA Director General’s comment, issued the following statement:
The involvement of Pakistani nationals in the Pathankot Air Base attack is an accepted fact. The investigations are ongoing. The Foreign Secretary had conveyed to his Pakistani counterpart in their April meeting that it was time for reviewing progress in investigation of the attack, after return of Pakistan’s Joint Investigation Team, which had gathered all the evidence when it visited India.
Enough information has also been provided to Pakistani authorities through two Letters Rogatory to conduct investigation in Pakistan, so that all those associated in Pakistan with planning, supporting and executing the attack are brought to justice. A further response and information from Pakistan is awaited. Speculation in this situation would be injudicious.
