Pakistan, India to hold talks in Dhaka
NEW DELHI (updated on: July 24, 2006, 17:30 PST): Pakistani and Indian officials plan to hold discussions in Bangladesh next week, the first meeting between the two sides after New Delhi put off peace talks over the Mumbai bomb blasts, an Indian official said on Monday.

The talks between Pakistani Foreign Secretary Riaz Mohammad Khan and his Indian counterpart Shyam Saran would be held on the sidelines of a South Asian conference, the foreign ministry official said.

The talks between the bureaucrats was expected to be followed by a meeting between the Pakistani foreign minister and India's junior foreign minister, he said. The meetings are expected to be held between July 31 and Aug. 2, he added.

"It's a good opportunity for the two sides to meet without it looking like formal talks," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "It will allow us to press Pakistan to live up to the commitments it has made to end terrorism."

New Delhi put off talks between Saran and Khan, due last week, after suspicion over the July 11 Mumbai train bombings fell on militants.

Pakistan has denied any involvement in the bombings, in which more than 180 people were killed. Islamabad expressed dismay at the decision to put off the talks and said the peace process should not be linked to the bomb attacks.

President Pervez Musharraf appealed to India to avoid a "blame game" over the bombings and called New Delhi's decision to delay peace talks a victory for terrorists.

The Saran-Khan talks were to review progress in the peace process, launched in 2004.

The peace process has made slow progress, particularly over the central dispute over Kashmir.

Its a pretty good move to bring back both countries back to a friendly and peaceful state.

But to have a success into this, India has to stop those childish blames on Pakistan, because its hard to have talks between both country officials under such conditions.

That is the way how the pennies fall in international politics.

If there is a solution, the politicians will have to find something new to keep the country and the people busy!

its only solution is the surrender of kashmir by any of them. and only by war. perhaps civil war.

Haven't you guys ( India and Pakistan) tried this several times already? Why not both countries get their armies out of Kashmir? am I being naive?

Very true, india needs to stop its ridiculous childish behavior and stop pretending its a superpower .

Also , india has to stop RAW from planning bomb attacks on poor hindus packed together like sardines in a train just so it can scream and yell about ISI and Pakistan.

If india cant be honest with itself....how does one expect it to be honest with others???????

Logically, this statement "india has to stop RAW from planning bomb attacks on poor hindus packed together like sardines in a train just so it can scream and yell about ISI and Pakistan." appears erroneous.

The confidence building measures have been beneficial and so to derail the same does not appear sensible. Of course, you could enlighten us for possibly I have missed the important point that has struck you which indicates what you are surmising.

Further, the only other aspect when such a ploy could be adopted (and it can be adopted only by the irresponsible) is when a country wishes to embark on a war. These killings have been going on for quite sometime and there has been no indication of having gone to war,

Commuter trains are packed like sardines in any part of the world. And to be sure, it was not only the Hindus who were killed but Sunnis, Shias, Ahmediyas, Christians and Parsis too; in short, Indians since India is composed of a whole lot of religions and in fair share too!

some problems dont have any solutions, you have to live with them. The problem is solved when people die & stop living them.

Forget kashmir & focus one economics alone.
pakistanis are now more interested in making maoney/building property rather relationships (religious too)

Kashmir is an integral part of Pakistan that is illegaly occupied by HINDUstan. The biggest human rights violations and atrocities are being commited in Occupied Kashmir by HINDUstans cruel and unrelentless army.

Are Pakistanis interested in "kashmiris as a people" or "kashmiri land-real estate" ? choose one.

If they choose the first option, they simply should ask kashmiris to migrate to pakistan by all possible options.
The Bus / Train services were started to enable kashmiris to migrate to pakistan permanently. But most kashmiris dont want to join pakistan, they are firmly set on independence, which both countries wont agree.

pakistanis are struggling for kashmiri real estate not human rights. look what they did in bangladesh !
