Pakistan has the world's biggest swimming pool

This is supposedly a before and after picture of the newly constructed underpass at Schon Circle, Karachi after the recent rains. Wow! I must say, its a marvel of engineering, for which the planners should be given some kind of an award.

Damn, that doesn't look good! Karachi's had extereme high rainfall, guess sewage system needs a lot of improvement.

I visited there on monday and I want to throw some fishes and sharks in it. after all, its increasing the beauty of karachi.:biggrin:

Its the bad planning and lack of interest by the firm that designed the underpass. They should've made adequate drainage systems for this kind of a rain cycle. Now the CDGK and KPT keep pointing fingers at each other while wildlife thrives in the water thatz collected in the underpass.

I hope they learn lessons from this and evaluate their plannings for the other three underpasses that are under construction.

Ahhh i cant believe this, yeah where did they get engineers from, i think purely Pakistani one's or perhaps the job has been done by just mere labourers. good on ya guyzzz

As a civil engineer I can add that sewer is allowed to become a problem once in 10 years. You just cannot use the max solution (budget and technical constraints). What does matter is the whole system. Are there area's that can be used to push water to... Are there long term plans to add trees so water van stay local and mud doesn't add problems... etc etc...

These days nations try to use the rain to increase water that can be used for irrigation or anything else. As long as it does not end in the sea where it is salted...

Btw, the biggest swimming pool in the world has to be our Nehers (Canals). They are even used for swimming!

Looks like planner forgot to make drainage system
