PESHAWAR: Pakistan government and banned militants’ outfit, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Wednesday has achieved consensus over extension in ceasefire and prisoners’ exchange from both sides after holding ‘second-phase’ of ‘direct talks’.

Government-Taliban committees held direct meeting in an undisclosed location in North Waziristan, as government-led team under supervision of Habibullah Khan Khattak flew on Wednesday morning by helicopter on a secret ‘peace zone’.

Reports revealed that consensus has been made after at least ‘7-hour’ meeting from both parties for extending ceasefire and showed agreement for exchanging prisoners.

The militants’ committee also called ‘Shura’ had demanded to release prisoners including women and elders from the custody of Pakistan’s security forces and urged for open movements of Taliban activists in their areas.

The second-phase of the most-awaited direct dialogues between government and Taliban ended while another meeting would be held again tomorrow.

According to a local news channel, governmental team was accompanied by a intelligence agency official, however, the person’s name is undisclosed.

Some reports also claimed that the federal government places demand for permanent ceasefire.

The militants’ organisation have showed agreement for spotting anti-dialogues militant groups involved in violent attacks in the country, reports claimed.

Governmental committee members reached back in Tal Cantt of Hangu after holding talks; and set to fly again another session with TTP.

Currently, three of the government committee members including Major Retd. Amir, Fawad ul Hasan and Habib Ullah Khattak flew towards the federal capital Islamabad from Peshawar, sources said.

Prominent Taliban committee member Maulana Sami ul Haq said that the meeting was continued for approximately 7 hours; in which both parties listened and considered the opposite stances.

Sami ul Haq confirmed that senior leader of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had attended the meeting took place with governmental team.

He said that they are trying to block all paths supposed to create deadlock in dialogue process.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader and another member of Taliban committee Professor Ibrahim added that it is expected to bring peace in the country following the direct talks.

Ibrahim called for setting best wishes in getting positive results from the initiated dialogue process in order to establish peace in the country.

we just cant put all the blame on Political parties or leaders, we all know it's the army who controls the politicians, it is just a misconception that army doesn't want to talk, but they are the real stake holders here, may be the army at last wants peace in FATA as there was in 2001.

The real problem is, northern areas is filled with foreign terrorists & even Pak Army personal know that NWA today is filled with Indian trained rented terrorists. Pak Army wants to do what is good for Pakistan & Pakistan should have but unfortunately we have corrupt, spineless & incompetent politicians who only fear for their & their family lives. So far which politician have said India & Afghan are harming Pakistan (Balochistan province & Northern Areas) from Afghanistan? NONE. We don't have a leader who who can lead from front, we have only corrupt, spineless, incompetent good for nothing politicians.
