ISLAMABAD—Overseas Pakistanis are the backbone of our economy as they are contributing significantly to the economic growth by sending in large amounts of remittances and government is taking all possible measures to resolve their problems on priority. This was said by Ms. Neelam Ali, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis while addressing a seminar on “Migration and Wealth of Nation” which was organized by the Economic Freedom Network Pakistan in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI).
She said government is fully alive to the positive role of overseas Pakistanis and has undertaken many initiatives for their welfare which include providing them better services at airports, setting up suitable schemes in education, health care, housing sectors for them as well as providing them rehabilitation support on their return.
She said community security attaches have been appointed in Pakistani foreign missions to provide necessary support to expatriate Pakistanis so that they could play more effective role in the development of national economy. She asked business community to support government towards building Pakistan as a strong, credible and transparent country on the map of the world.
Mr. Rene Klaff, Regional Director, South Asia, FNF in his address said that more Pakistanis are leaving the country as compared to other nationals coming to Pakistan which shows that Pakistan could not provide better career prospects to majority of its citizens.

Overseas Pakistanis have 50+ Billion Dollars , just imagine if all of that money comes in as Investment in Industrial sector.

There would be a revolution in Pakistan and i guess all we need is to have a Safer prosper Pakistan which would provide friendly environment to Investors who are investing in their own backyard.

But till mr 10% is in office it is not going to happen as he cannot be trusted.

I could not help but notice, the announcement by every Pakistani about an "upcoming" revolution. It's like a recorded tape.

Who is going to bring the revolution?

The same people according to whom Zardari is the root of every problem?

As per Govt. of India Data there is NRI (Non resident Indian) in every country of the world.

Yes, all of 180 countries.

Except about 2 countries North Korea and Pakistan.

Back to topic majority of Pakistanis are into blue collar jobs and in the Gulf countries.

And as Europe and America etc. making tougher norms especially for pakistani people will find it very hard to get there.

So, in future gulf will be the only source of international employment.

You are correct in most ways except that somehow that posts gives a view that all Indians are doing white collar jobs while all Pakistani's have blue collared or even worse jobs.

Lets be honest with ourselves, majority of Indians and Pakistani's dont really have good jobs outside and its only the conversion rates which makes it viable. Of course there are some Indians and Pakistani's who have good jobs but they are still in minority.

Also I would say that if you would take an average Indians would still win in this department due to two reasons:

1. Population - I mean seriously there are too many of us out there, its sometimes a problem but in this case it turns out to be a boon.

2. Indian IT industry is more developed- I can say this from experience that majority of the Indians that go outside and get white collared good jobs are one way or the other related to IT industry. Of course there will always be exceptions, so please forgive me for generalizing it.

1. I have not said Indians only do white collar job. even Americans do blue collar jobs.

2. You have generalized and narrow it down.

3. For ur kind info. According to the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, there are close to 35,000 Indian American doctors

4. And about 40,000 Indian doctors in UK.

i don't have time to put all the data but above are suffice to prove u wrong about IT only kind of crap.

The 7.5 Billion is the official figure, if the money transferred through Hundi is taken into account, its much much more.
