With Indian movies except Raees getting the green signal to release in Pakistan, a meeting was held recently in Karachi under the supervision of the Chairman of Pakistan Film Producers Association( PFPA), Syed Noor , where he amongst numerous well know directors and producers decided that it was essential to make sure that our own movies got the prime time slot in Cinema houses and were not sidelined because the self-imposed ban on Indian movies had been lifted.
Having met at the Movenpick Hotel, the PFPA decided to form an action committee comprising of the two-time Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Chaudhry Muhammad, Aijaz Kamran, Doctor Hassan, Waqas Rana, Wajahat Rauf, ARY's Jerjees Seja and Jami Mehmood whose sole purpose would be to see the interest of the Film industry and along with the Exhibitors Association also decide on the movies release.

It was also decided by the members and chairman that the action committee would make sure by talking to the cinema owners that Pakistani films will be given equal prime time.
Since Balu Mahi is releasing on 10th February if the cinema owners don’t give this movie equal prime time shows then the entire film industry will go to the court or simply protest on the roads and in front of Government bodies until their demand is accepted.

While we do know that Indian movies are essential to keep our cinema houses going, the newly made action committee is a good step as it is filled with people who love Pakistani cinema and are working very hard for its revival.
