Pakistan exports Chinese HJ-8 missile to 20 nations

Pakistan carried out tests pitting the HJ-8 against the TOW system to see which missile was more suited to its ground force. The HJ-8 came out on top by destroying all five targets with five launches, while the TOW only destroyed three, according to the Duowei report.

Nearly 10,000 HJ-8 missiles have since exported to around 20 countries. These include Bangladesh, Bolivia, Egypt, Ecuador, Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.

As Islamabad opens up new overseas markets for China, it also builds trust with Beijing to gain access to the further arms technology in the future, creating a win-win situation for both nations, Duowei said.

Great but its time to 'move on' further... Both active and passive protection systems in modern tanks are advancing. JH-9 with laser-beam-riding and the A variant with even semi-active millimetre wave radar guidance and an armor penetration of 1,200mm is now the hot weapon in its class in Chinese inventory. And then there is HJ-10, though still in evaluation phase and limited service with Chinese military but this one is just way beyond capable then the most stretched envelops of HJ-8/9 and is developed as a counterpart to 'HellFire' as a both ground and air launched weapon...!

Even though the report above says the HJ-8 is capable of destroying different targets the PLA has basically phased it out if favor of other ATGMs, and i've seen many videos online where the HJ-8 which the FSA used couldn't destroy a T-72, they were good against T-55 etc but the missile just bounced off the T-72, maybe the pak army are using more powerful warheads,

rubbish if they can go through the frontal armor of a m-84 tank, which is a variant of the t-72, then it can go through the t-72 quiet easily

It is a great news and shows the potential and brand/name of Pakistan to be accepted in the international market. But lets improve and equip our armed forces with latest versions and export that along with the Baktar Shikan MK-1 (HJ-8) to even more countries
