ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION Pakistan on Thursday (October 15) observed International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by destroying tons of drugs seized by Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) authorities. Drug burning ceremonies were held in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Quetta in which drugs worth billions of dollars were set on fire. Apart from the drugs and tobacco set on fire, around 7907 bottles of foreign brand liquor and 1370 cans of beer seized by the authorities were crushed by a bulldozer. In Islamabad, the ceremony ended with burning of 320.5 tons of narcotics, ANF said in a statement. The burnt drugs comprised of opium, morphine, heroin, hashish, cocaine, methamphetamine, amphetamine, cannabis and other prohibited chemicals, worth around $2.25 billion in the international market, the statement said.
