Pakistan's Defence Secretary Lieutenant General (Retd) Asif Yasin Malik will arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow for a five-day official visit, the High Commission of Pakistan said in a release.
During his stay in Colombo from 7-11 August, the newly appointed Pakistani Defence Secretary will hold discussions with Sri Lankan Defence hierarchy to further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
Lieutenant General (Retd) Malik will also address the Defence Seminar 2012 being organized in Colombo by the Sri Lanka Army under the theme of "Towards Lasting Peace and Stability" from 8th to 10th August, 2012.
Major General Ghulam Qamar and Brigadier Hamayun Aziz of Pakistan Army will also be attending the Defence Seminar.
Two Pakistani defence equipment manufacturing firms will be exhibiting their products during the Defence Seminar.
Since independence, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have consistently maintained close, cordial and mutually supportive relations especially in the field of Defence. Both nations have assisted each other during testing times in their histories.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka have comprehensive and mutually beneficial training collaboration for Army, Navy and Air Force.
